Activate Rogers Pay as you go from abroad

    Hi Guys,

i just found this forum by google and i think this is the same like the large mobile community we have over here in germany called telefon-treff.

i've got some problems with activating a rogers pay as you go card over the internet. i want to activate that card for my girlfriend who is going to canada on saturday for four weeks. i want to activate everything from here so that she only has to put in that sim card when she arrives in canada and she can leave the cellphone number over here to me and her family and friends.

problem ist that rogers didn't accept the german credit card and i cannot find any shop that sells me a top up voucher. i need a hint how i can activate with my german credit card or where to get a top $20 top up voucher.
if anyone of you could send me one of these vouchers this would be nice aswell - i will give you an extra reward of $5 for your help. i can paypal you the money.

i hope this is the right section where i placed this post in.

best wishes to all of you from germany. if i can help you out with some information on german mobile - let me know.

go to ebay & buy a topup card? You might even get lucky and find a sim card with balance on it already lol., but the logistics of timing it's mailing to you or to her place in Canada before she arrives may be impossible...so just buy a top up card and voila.

If you have an American Express card you can try using the American Express and just inputting any valid Canadian address as the billing address. From my personal experience, Amex is pretty lax when it comes to address verification.

Failing any of the above, it is not terribly difficult to get a top up card in Canada. I am heading to the GTA in two weeks and I usually stop at a local 7-11 where I am going and get a Rogers voucher there. I then dial *868, enter the voucher number and I am good to go. I too wish I could top up over the Internet with a US credit card but it is not possible. Unfortunately the vouchers expire so buying one and stashing it for future use is not much help.

I'll try to get a amex card today from a friend. Do not have on on my own.

I know it can be easy to set up the card in canada. But i want to give my girlfriend the preactivated sim so that she only has to put it into her cellphone when she arrives.

    Hi,

Goto kijiji.ca an do a search for rogers pay as you go vouchers .

As well remember you SIM if was never activated may need a activation fee for pay as you go, so a $10 card would go bye bye very quickly upon activation or accidental international call.

    Hi Guys,

just a quick update from me. I got a $20 Voucher on Kijiji. Activated the sim while my girl was in the plane to Vacouver, activated a 500mb data plan on it. When she left the plane in Vancouver she had "rogers" on the phone - textet me that everything is fine.

Thank you all for your help - i appreciate it! I think i won't be a active member here - but if anyone needs some help coming to germany and get sim cards or sth working, feel free to contact me, i get an email when i receive a pn.

    thanks,
    thomas

Before you used to, I haven't dealt with PAY AS YOU GO in 10 years. IN the end it was pay $25 for activation, then got a double your minute incentive so it cancelled itself out.

Some private dealers charge upwards of $50 for in-store activation on Prepaid, for their time, as prepaid commissions are very low.

I think this is a bell-centric strategy. Though I've never tried activating a SIM at a rogers store, Bell is notorious for hidden fees in prepaid activations
