LTE to be enabled for ALL Fido Plans

Though we may not be all engineers in the field, the information I have brought up here should be adequately explained the technical requirement as LTE continues to evolve.

We cannot base our comments simply on a hunch or beliefs, which are contrary to the facts. There are technical standards set up and ratified by ETSI, 3GPP and other governing bodies.

LTE, as in its current releases, is still in the early days. There are things have not yet implemented e.g. SCWS, NFC related security measures. But there are things now implemented such as the extended PLMN list for the LTE, which is technically necessary for roaming. So it is short-sighted to say, "oh, the carriers force the subscribers to replace with the LTE SIM cards because they want to!" There are technical things becoming necessary soon.

Let's just celebrate!

As the years and the technology move along and progress, through GPRS, EDGE, HSPA, LTE, ZBZ, WKRP, and FKME.. I'll expect to *always* continue to have unlimited data of all flavours and varieties through my grandfathered unlimited $50 Fido option

Perhaps "hope and want" are more accurate words than "expect"... but nonetheless I optimistically envision a day in the semi-distant future when we are getting 1-Terabyte-per-second transfer speeds on this antiquated add-on option from 2004

Free cookie to the first person here who successfully tests and verifies LTE reception and speeds on the grandfathered plan, after the rollout of course...

I do not care much but someone in this thread insist on the trivial matter. I mean what is a big deal to get ourselves a new SIM card and eligible plan if we want to taste the LTE goodies?

It is not very customer "friendly" to have to get a new SIM and change a plan. So unless these changes are required for technical reasons (as DataDude eluded to) it is merely a headache and waste of time.

Yes, I do have the old $50 unlimited plan discounted to $40 by retentions. Frankly I'm surprised that they're going to allow "all plans," as true unlimited plans on LTE can = network abuse. I guess there aren't enough of us who have this plan to by an issue.
