So months of ongoing network issues would be due to upgrades? Doubtful.

Yes, I realize that other carriers have their own problems, but almost every day I am reminded how much better off customers of other carriers are in the areas where I need TMo to work and it doesn't. This used to not be the case.

I'm not a fanboy. I'm a customer ready to cut ties when a particular company's products and services no longer meet my needs.

I know im getting really bad coverage here in chicago lately. I will be on the bus and my phone will drop down to zero 4g then full edge in multiple neighborhoods, where it worked perfectly fine before. Upsetting. I usually keep my phone on wcdma only, but it results in no service.

I've run into quite a few people who were ready to sign up, supplied their own phone, but backed out when they realized they still had to sign a contract.

I was able to get the no contract unlimited talk/text and 5gb of data before. It's a monthly prepaid plan. No data roaming, but it is no contract of any kind.

I'm surprised the no contract bring your own device didn't take off better than it did. I'm at the point now that a subsidy/contract is not my first choice these days.

I think the fact that the no contract plans where called monthly 4g right along the other non-prepaid ones didn't help. I psid $10 extra dollars for no contract and they tried the roaming.

One thing that will help tmo is to find direction and then hit it 110%. For a while they seemed to change direction, plans etc a little too much.

That's not going to happen. Even More Plus was a big failure mainly because out of contract customers would jump ship to get a new $199 phone elsewhere because they couldn't get a subsidy on T-Mobile. T-Mobile had to lock these customers in to try and stop massive customer losses. So they gave CS reps incentives to convert out of contract customers to Value. According to T-Mobile's quarterly reports, the Value plans have been very popular, so they won't be ending the contract requirement.

If someone doesn't want a contract, T-Mobile's position is for them to use Monthly 4G.

If they continue to lose customers they will. Lol.

They lost far more customers when people weren't locked into a contract. Now, they dangle low monthly prices in front of a customer and get them to sign up for a 2 year lock.

I wouldn't call it a scam. The contract requirement is not ideal, but at least customers aren't forced to pay for a subsidy that they don't want or need.

Before anyone brings up Straight Talk unlimited, check the forums and see what they do to people who try to actually use their plan. Their TOS even prohibits streaming audio (and basically everything other than email or occasional web browsing).

At least T-Mobile's value plan lets you buy a data package you can tether with and save some money vs. AT&T, Verizon, or even Sprint. I'm not aware of any MVNO that allows tethering, even for an extra fee (if someone knows of one, please correct me).
Bars are not a true indication of signal strength or quality.
