According to Koodo's website, data connectivity settings should involve the use of 74.49.0.18 as a proxy. But when using the Hotmail Android application, I've pinpointed this very proxy to be triggering a SSL certificate error. After deleting the proxy from the data settings, everything now works fine. I remember this same type of error involving a competitor's proxy when logging into some websites that use passwords as well and in that case, the solution was to also disable the proxy. So what exactly is Koodo's proxy doing that prevents proper logins to my Hotmail accounts through the Android application (and probably some other sties as well)? Any bad side effects to disabling the proxy as I have done (such as some sites not working)? Has anyone else experimented with both the proxy being disabled and enabled to make a comparison?

Interesting... Disabling proxy also fixed my not being able to use outbound ports other than 80 and 8080 with Web apps. Good riddance! Thanks for the tip.

Okay, so at least it just not just me. I signed up to Koodo on the July 24th and a couple of days later, I noticed that I wasn't receiving e-mails when not at home. Once I realized that, it took me all of 5 seconds to figure out that I should try using my connection without the proxy. I know over at Mobilicity, the proxy caused nothing but problems making it so that most sites that I used asking for a password to log in just couldn't be used. The only thing that I could ever find Mobilicity's proxy doing was allowing customers to access their online Mobilicity accounts without needing to log in (it did some type of cellular network verification of your identitiy). I'm suspecting that it might be similar with Koodo and some type of WAP self serve page? If that's all it is, I've definitely leaving the proxy off.
I just signed up with Koodo and went ahead and added their APN to my Galaxy Nexus. I skipped the proxy settings, thinking it would be OK, but the Speedtest app doesn't work without the proxy settings. It get's stuck on trying to find a server.
Add in the proxy settings and things start working again.
I have the same issue with the speed test app. So far it is the only app that doesn't work.

I had to delete the proxy in order to get Play Store to work. This was a year ago.
Speedtest does work without the proxy for me. Like above, leave proxy on for mms, or that does not work

The speedtest.net application server was down for many hours starting from some time last night around 9PM EDT into this morning. This morning, it started working again. During that time, it didn't work for me with the Koodo data proxy on, nor did it work over wi-fi either. The Speedtest.net application works fine for me now without the proxy after Speedtest fixed a problem on its end.
so just deleting the proxy "74.49.0.18" and deleting the port "80" won't cause any issues?
None at all
