The cheapest no overage plan they have currently is the $20 for 2Gb, At that price you could get the preferred android plan with 5Gb and no overage also which would work with your phone because it's a smart phone. As for the data it mainly depends on the area and if there is high 3G penetration, I have a 3GS and some days I can load apple.com within 30 seconds and others it could take 2/3mins just due to the area and time of day. During day time I don't have an issue with low quality Spotify or Pandora and sometimes high quality Pandora, At night past 11pm I can use full 320Kb on Spotify with no pausing unless the phone is being moved around frequently.

You could do prepaid for $30 for the 5GB and 100mins and unlimited texts. You also mentioned 2g only, which is mostly true now but if you read around here, Tmobile is expected to have more 3g on the 1900mhz band too so your iphone will get 3g.

I think $10 for 200Mb but it has overages and if you have high usage you would hit that in three or four days unless you rely in wifi.

im already under contract so thats useless.

and i would have no problem payign $20 or so if it was full 3G, i guess i will wait til they bring it out to michigan 100%.

You should call the retention department by saying Cancel Service at the automated prompt. Ask them for the $5 Preferred Phone First data plan. It will work with the iPhone.

You may want to put your SIM into a dumbphone before you call. They're not supposed to give out that plan for use on a smartphone. Once you get the plan, you can move your SIM over to the iPhone with no problem.

To get retentions I would think you would call 611 and get transferred, I'm not positive though.

I never said they had a separate number. In my previous post, I stated exactly how to get to the retention department:

"You should call the retention department by saying Cancel Service at the automated prompt."

The retention department is the department that speaks to people who are interested in canceling their service. They can add other features that regular customer service no longer has access to.

Tell them you have a line that has no data and you want to add the $5 Preferred Phone First plan on to it. If they don't know what you're talking about, verify that you are speaking to someone in the retention department. If they are, then just call back and speak to someone else.

The Preferred Phone First plan provides unlimited data to non-smartphones for $5 per month.
