No Jelly Bean for XOOMS, Verizon does it again!

The WIFI XOOMS got Jelly Bean, so I ask Verizon when the Verizon Lte XOOM would be getting it. This is what I got emailed back.

Hi sir, after extensive research, at this time VZW isn’t going to be lunching the Jelly Bean software. Thanks and have a great day.

These guys are crazy, they don't care that they are expensive, and I'll bet they think...oh well the'll but a new one and throw that one away! More money for us! Wrong...I'll be buying something like a WIFI Nexus and a no contract Lte hotspot. One of Sprint's MVNO's offer the first 500MB free and Sprint is currently rolling out Lte in Baltimore.

I played with a 7 yesterday and was nice to see jellybean. For the price it's a good buy. Yeah I agree with not getting carrier tablets. Will any of the zooms have it?

Glad I held off buying a Motorola Xyboard. Was about to get one, but verizon will probably abandon it as well

I reached out to Verizon on Twitter and via email, and so far both channels responded (Twitter) unable to confirm or deny the JB update. If multiple Verizon reps can't confirm it, I'd say this information is unconfirmed. Reps are notoriously clueless, which is why the original reply from a Verizon person above might also be inaccurate. Unless there are multiple confirmations, I'd say there's still a chance.

Agreed, a *small* chance. But the lady in red wasn't shy about being the only carrier to lock up the SGSIII bootloaders so orphaning the Xoom would be NBD for her.

Upcoming Windows 8 Surface Pro x86 tablet is looking more and more interesting . . .

Don't make assumptions that Android JB won't be released on the device eventually. I will go out an limb and speculate that there might be a current compatibility issue pending a patch. Same thing happened with the release of Android ICS on the Motorola Droid Razr. Originally the update was scheduled for fist quarter 2012 and wasn't implemented until 2nd quarter.
If I'm annoyed and you're annoyed, does that make us a paranoid ??

If you are right, I might add that the XOOM WIFI soak test will gather some information, and it's happening now.

But there is no schedule that I know of for JB Lte, unless you know something.

Verizon give a crap about existing customers and devices. Verizon feels if you want a better product you should spend more money on a newer device.

One thing I've found out for sure, is they are difficult. If you only knew the headache I got with the several CS calls. CS tells you to do one thing, and when you do....wammie! They seem to be only interested in selling shared plans and new lines, and don't hear what you are saying! In my case I had to insist that they just add the billing code that I had back, ask to investigate the matter, and then insist that it is still available. And then repeat the "NO Shared plans for me, I have a contract that gets me 2GB for 30 bucks" mantra. It's as if they are used car salesmen without the smart to confuse you and out think you!

Hopefully I will never have to call them again!

I'm a happy Verizon customer, Droid razr maxx on an unlimited data plan with unlimited mobile hotspots plan and a Acer iconia a500 Droid tablet. I just don't see why people would want to buy a tablet through a carrier.
