switched to Bell 2 weeks ago...thinking of crawling back to Fido...any tips?

I've been with Fido for a very long time, and up until recently had no plans whatsoever to switch (especially to Bell). However, my previous phone, the SGSII unlocked completely crapped out on me and left me phoneless. I was in Toronto at the time (currently living in Port Carling) and seeing as I was really limited on time (so I couldn't really go shopping around for the best deal) decided to jump ship to Bell since they were offering me what seemed like the best deal (and a brand-spankin new GSIII). However, nearly 2 weeks in and I feel like I've been screwed into this deal on the hopes that I would be apathetic enough to fix it.

Here's the plan that I was sold on:
    $53.00
    200 anytime minutes
    Unlimited E/W
Data: 200MB (not a heavy user)
Phone features included: Call waiting, conf calling, Message Centre & Call Display

All that for 53 bucks seemed reasonable enough, and as I didn't have time to shop around because I had to go back home within hours I took it. HOWEVER, as you notice the bolded part...I'm paying an extra $12 for the Message Centre & Call Display. Says so in My Bell account. I called the "Wireless etc" representative that sold me the package and he says that his contact at Bell is taking care of it, but she's taking her sweet *** time. The return policy is 15 days, which will expire on Tuesday July 31st, and if I don't get what I was told I'm getting for the $53 I have every intention of cancelling/returning everything. Seeing as I have this week off I'll have the time to stay in Toronto for a bit and figure out what's what.

My question to all of you is this: if I call Fido back and tell them my story, will they be able to offer me some sort of "retention-type" plan? I still have my mothers phone with them (it was part of my account before I switched), and I've been with them for over 10 years before jumping ship last week. Since I have more time on my hands now, I'm considering getting the One S or Galaxy Nexus and immediately selling them off and getting an SGSIII (expandable memory is important to me).

So...any advice on how to approach this?

Call Bell and ensure the phone is returnable. they don't have a 30 minutes policy do they?

Fido customer relations can help move the number back and negotiate a plan with you. It will be under a new account number though.

Here is what I would ask for...

    1. the Fido $30 basic plan
    - 200 minutes (by the minute)
    - unlimited text can/us/intl
    - unlimited evenings and weekends 5pm
    - unlimited incoming calls

    2. the $30 retention data value package with automatic $5 discount
    - 500 MB data (no tethering, $0.03 per MB if you use more)
    - call display with name display
    - enhanced voicemail
    - whocalled
    - unlimited Canadian picture/video messaging

that's $55/mo before tax and is already a better deal than the $62 per month you would be spending with Bell. However, you can try to negotiate the price down to the $50/month minimum that Fido requires if the retention agent is willing to give you an additional $5 MSF discount for 36 months.

If OP port out his cellphone number to Bell Mobility, he has no negotiation power against Fido Customer Relations. Fido will consider him as a new subscriber with no seignority.

OP's Fido account has been automatically deactivated following the port out... Therefore no possible way to reactivate it...

Geez Fritz, don't kill the poor guy's enthusiasm for coming back.

To the OP, I suggest you call in and ask about reactivation. If you are willing to sign an agreement, let them know.

Ceredon. This is an issue with wireless wave not Bell. Look at op post in Bell. The screen shot shows this is a wireless wave advertisement error.

Ok. In either case, I agree wil Fritz here. Don't expect a Retentions offer, just retail. Worth a shot I guess.

Try to get the 60/6GB. Good plan over all and I think it's available to all consumers.
I'm not telling you anything that you can't just google for yourself

So it looks like I'm SOL then...lol...I still have another number with them though. Can't they somehow port my number back onto that account? (the 2 numbers were under my name previously)

When you "cancel" a number that was not ported out, Fido can reactivate it within 30 or 60 days to its original state.
When you "port" a number, Fido cannot reactivate it to its original state.

As it is technically the latter that occurred...but then again, we are only dealing with computers here. Proper escalation would yield full resolution...

    Eric,

You're aware that public solicitation of your company and its services are against forum rules, right? I mean, that is unless Fido / Rogers have something special set up with HowardForums...While you are free to publicly discuss Fido, and the services / solutions they may offer, specifically offering your services in public to other members are against the advertisement rules of HowardForums. Also, linking users to your official Fido / Rogers twitter feeds are also against forum rules as those sites are considered "for-profit / revenue generating".

There are many paid sponsors on the website who are free to advertise as they wish; I'm sure Howard would gladly extend that service to Fido / Rogers. It wouldn't really be fair to advertise for free...
