I Have a 2 year contract. Fido started charging me for call id 6 months in.

I have a 2 year contract from feb.12-feb 14.I have call id,voicemail, and 200 minutes anytime.I just got my August bill and they charged me 7.00 for call id.I phoned them and they told me that call id wasnt part of the contract, and that it was an add on.How can they do this?

You will have to explain how you got your contract. Usually Caller ID is an add on. In fact it should be 8 dollars according to the website. http://www.fido.ca/web/page/portal/Fido/FidoOptions#myc

Did you negotiate something special? Are there credits on your account?
I'm not telling you anything that you can't just google for yourself

Caller id was never included in any plans, (execpt for one or two plans) it always has been and as of today still is an add on. Price has changed over the years from $2 or $3 to $8. Now if you negotiated it or something with L n R then you need to look into it.

Check your statements - it may have been in the form of credits which may not carry over.

They were on my statement as credits that said they expired the end of June.I did not know that until now.I still think that is wrong, when you start a new contract what you start with is what you finish with, especially when you had all that from the previous contract. If I am SOL I am not impressed at all.I cant even cancel my services because I am under contact. Can I switch the voice mail I have to get the call id back?

When you start a new contract, everything has to be renegotiated. You cannot assume they will continue to offer you a service again...Lesson learned for next time, be lucky it is only Call Display and nothing like, say...a mortgage.

If it is mentioned that it expires it's incumbent upon the customer to make sure it's still there. Like WIRC said - when you renew your mortgage or a GIC or... Anything really - you need to check the rates....even the plan bud....
