Looking good, we haven't harvested anything yet since in the spring instead of seeding wheat when everyone else was, our air seeder was busy putting fertilizer on for canola, which we seed with our planter. With the planter we use just under half the amount of seed you'd use with an air seeder, cutting the cost from around $45/acre to about $20. In trials we've actually had higher yields with planted canola too, so it makes sense. But it's time consuming.
Took a sample of wheat today before all the rumblings in the sky started, it's 17.5% so we will be busy next week. I'm hoping some rain comes from this storm, we got 1/2" a couple of days ago and this year, every little bit helps.
I agree with this. While service around here can be frustrating at times, it's not nearly as bad as it used to be. MTS CDMA was horrible. Rogers EDGE around here was good, but around Altona and stuff it wasn't worth mentioning. 3G is decent.
As I've said before, Telus contacted us years ago asking if they could put a tower on our land. We said yes and they sent contracts. We had a few issues (minor stuff like if they decided to pack up and leave they could just leave the concrete and stuff in the field, we didn't want this. You leave, you clean up your mess before you go). They weren't offering very good $ for putting the tower there, but we didn't care. Service > Money for us.
Haven't heard back from them since. So screw Telus.
If they did build a network out here and the coverage was better than Rogers, I'd switch. Handsets and plans are completely irrelevant, I can get whatever handset I want from kijiji and all plans work out to being $80 to $100/month anyway.
However with MTS/Rogers right now I can go basically anywhere in Manitoba and have cell service. Hard to beat that, even if it is sketchy in some areas.
