Exclamation Galaxy S3 Battery Life...How is yours?

One of the reasons why I wanted this phone was because I heard it had great battery life. Having been a previous iphone owner, I never had issues with battery life. It would last me all day and night at the very least. Still getting used to my first android phone and I was curious to hear about everyone's battery life. I've seen mixed reviews with people saying they have great battery life lasting all day with heavy usage (12+) and some saying 5-6 hours.

For the past 2 days, my phone has lasted about 5-6 hours before I get the warning to plug in my phone. Is this normal?

I have power saving setting on. my screen brightness all the way down. anything else I should do?

I do some moderate social media browsing, text, and check my email throughout the day. I realize the screen is giant so that is a big power sucker whenever it's on.

I just wanted to compare with other users before my 15 day window of exchange expires. Thanks!

We have found that it is advantageous to do a Factory Reset.. As in our experiences it drastically improves battery life. That said, I am currently off charger and going on 29 hours on one charge.

What does a factory reset do? Does it erase everything from the phone?

If a rogue app is tearing up your battery, you would find out usually. When doing this method, always wait 24-48 hours before reinstalling all your apps. Even then just a few at a time to narrow down the drain.

I'm getting fantastic battery life with my gs3.

I am at 23 percent at roughly 2 days of usage. I would say the GS3 has the best battery life of any Android I have owned: Desire, Mesmerize, Electrify, and Aviator.

Do you use LTE in your area? I found that with my phone on CDMA only I can generally go about 9-10 hours with moderate use (texts, emails, Facebook, some web pages) and still have about 40% left after that amount of time in general. I tried with LTE on the entire time and after about 6 hours I was down to 35%. Not sure if that's normal because where I was that day was on the fringe of LTE coverage and the phone would come in and out of LTE which may have drained the battery faster. I just keep LTE off and turn it on when in areas of strong coverage when I need it ( watching video, etc.)

I'm going to run the LTE on full time test again today to see if I get duplicate results.

I am usually in a 4G LTE area. If I go about 5 miles out of town it switches back to 3G. I have heard that LTE uses less juice than 3G and CDMA so I am anxious for the results.

So I've been out with my phone today for about 7 hours with it left in CDMA/LTE/EVDO as the preferred mode. It was rather light use because I was at work (couple of email checks, text messages and that's about it) but after the 7 hours I'm at 74% battery. I DO NOT have power saving mode turned on. I think results will vary widely based on what things you are doing with the phone at the time. I've actually heard the opposite of you nachoman. I've heard LTE can use 5-20% more battery than standard 3g. I'm happy with the results so far today. If I remember I'll leave it all day in LTE mode and post my results end of day

After 13 hours with CDMA/LTE/EVDO turned "on" and not running in power saver mode I have 32% left. This was with a good mix of calls, texts, some video watching and web surfing. I don't know how you guys are going multiple days without charging your phone. Are you using it to do things like video watching and web surfing?

i actually use my phone and i got 6 hours. If it wasnt for my battery pack i would have been phoneless while at the museum.
9 am used gps , 10 am took about 40 pictures, used the web, used gps on and off until the battery was low at 3 pm. If it sits around and does nothing yes then two days. If you go on vacation and plan on using it as gps and a camera i would get a second way to charge it.
