Compare Galaxy S to Exhibit II?

    Hi all,

I'm thinking about buying a Galaxy S 4G. The $220 deal on TMO's website with free $50 card is fairly enticing... and used Galaxy S phones seem to be fairly plentiful for around $100 on our local Craigslist and in the pawn shops.

I currently have an Exhibit II which I've heard is pretty much a "bare bones" Galaxy S.

Would it be a good move to buy a Galaxy S? Would I see much of a benefit?

    Thanks

The Galaxy S series definitely has a premium feel. You'd also gain a Super AMOLED screen that is a little larger with Gorilla Glass.

Personally.. I'd pass. It has the same problem with long SMS failing over 4G as the Exhibit II but unlike the Exhibit II, it has not been fixed. You'd have to flash an old baseband/modem to fix it yourself.

I think you should wait til the S II drops in price. That'd be a worthwhile upgrade for sure.

I concur with island but knowing much less. The S has a lot of bad reviews on Tmo; I think they put too little (phone) storage and the Exhibit is actually a step up, at least many important respects. Agree with S2 also; Blaze looks good, too--what do you think, Island?

Perhaps check your local craigslist for htc sensations that may pop up in your price range.

The Galaxy S is a nicer phone but the Exhibit II is newer. If you already have an Exhibit II, I don't think it's worth the effort to switch. The biggest difference is the older Hummingbird CPU on the S 4G vs. the newer Snapdragon CPU on the Exhibit II; both run at 1GHz.

The Blaze is hands down way better than the Galaxy S 4G or Exhibit II. Runs the same Snapdragon S3 1.5GHz dual-core CPU as the S II, 1GB of RAM, lots of internal space for apps, and beastly 4G reception. It hangs on to a signal for dear life and data speeds are very, very fast.

The S III is the top dog but if you don't want to spend that much, I'd say the S II or Blaze are perfect. I prefer the S II for the better camera but some don't like the giant form factor, in which case the Blaze has a lesser camera but the same super fast CPU and HSPA+ 42 data onboard.

I went from the S II > Blaze > S III and all are great phones. My Exhibit II 4G is my backup phone . Just got my TPU case for it in the mail today!

Galaxy s 4g is much nicer than the exhibit ii. If you can't afford more, it's a much better option, having used both. Worlds better screen, better gps, snappier.

But if you can afford a bit more, the galaxy nexus is about 4-5x better than both for about twice the price. Subjective, of course.

I still had touchwiz lag with the galaxy s 4g. Maybe that goes away if you're into flashing other distros

Well... I never was too good waiting for stuff

I found a fairly decent deal on a used TMO branded Galaxy S 4G today on Craigslist and picked it up. Has the original box and everything. Love the large screen and definitely agree with the "premium" feel over the Exhibit II.

The Galaxy S didn't "break" me too bad... so I can still check out the SII and SIII when the prices drop... and they'll have to drop substantially for me to afford one.

For the time being I'll definitely enjoy the Galaxy S and Exhibit II.

One big difference I've found tonight between the Galaxy S 4G and Exhibit II is download speed. The Galaxy S 4G is hitting 10 mbps down... while the Exhibit II is doing about 4 mbps down.

I like my t mobile exhibit 2. It's 1 of the best prepaid phones you can get for the price.
