I phoned T-mobile to ask about getting sim and going on pay-by-the-day plan. I told the girl upfront I was in Canada. Was offered $0.99 Microsim to my address. I agreed, then the rep realized she should not ship to Canada. She suggested I ship to my destination address. I agreed, then the rep realized she could not accept a Canadian credit card. She suggested an American Card, I agreed. Then she realized she could probably not ship if the billing address was still in Canada. Doh!
So is ebay my only option? Price is around $6-$8, and involves the risk of ebay. I'm told if I go to kiosk when I land the sim will cost something like $25. Sure would love to get that $0.99 sim, any ideas?
Sometimes ordering with AMEX card works using US destination address as billing address. Apparently address verification is not that accurate with AMEX
As you were informed in your other thread, Tmo might not have the right frequencies for 3G where you go. But if they are, then, yes, a cut down normal SIM would do the same thing as an official micro SIM. It would also not be difficult to just go into a store when you get there, and they might have them there - but I know how it is, it's better to arrive with the phone working, not having to waste time dealing with it while you're there.

If you need to activate service, just buy a $10 prepaid activation kit at a T-Mobile store at your destination.
If you have an account already and just want a microSIM for it, pop into a store. I got microSIMs for both of my prepaid accounts on T-Mobile while I was in Philadelphia in June. The store rep waived the charges.
