I just got a Nokia E5 to use with the $45/mo plan. I really like the look of the phone, esp. the keyboard. What I don't love is the extremely slow data (.5 down / .03 up). I am in an area with strong ATT 3G coverage.
So I thought I'd edit the APN settings to those shown below, as suggested in another post:
Name: Straight Talk
APN: att.mvno
Proxy: <not set>
Port: <not set>
MMSC: http: // mmsc.cingular dot com (I can't post any URLs yet)
MMS Proxy: 66. 209. 11. 33
MMS Port: 80
APN Type: default,supl,mms,hipri
BUT, there doesn't seem to be any way to edit the APN on this phone!!! Can anybody help please?
sounds like you are itching to change it. i doubt you can change it. straight talk likely altered the software. there ia a tool that works on nokias. i do not recall the name.
can you try the nokia SIM swap on this phone in a different phone? Also how is this phone? I am considering it down the road. Right now test driving ST on the motorola W418g.
I don't have another phone to swap the SIM into until I unlock the Samsung I just got.
After a 5 day fiasco caused by ST (will share the horror in another post), I can at least use the phone now, and can say the phone itself is very nice. ST currently has a refurb on sale for $39.99. The one I received looks absolutely brand new. Keyboard is surprisingly easy to type on; faster and less annoying than the touch screens on my Android phones.
Just pray to God that you don't have to call customer "service" for any reason other than really, really simple issues.

if you cant edit, is there a way to add a new apn?
There is a menu item to add a new "Access Point", but there doesn't seem to be anywhere to enter alpha characters on the screen to add a new "Access Point", so I can't enter "APN: att.mvno". It only has fields for IP addresses.
