Hello,
Just wandering which provider provides the best coverage close to the US border.
I am currently with Rogers and cannot connect to the 3G network and only on the E network on occasion. They refuse to give any further discounts as I already have $20 off the monthly plan.

So anyplace is good.

I live about 6 miles off the US border in Manitoba, on my iPhone 4S I go to "carrier" and force it to stay on Rogers otherwise it always seems to end up on AT&T.
Funny how I can get 4 bars of AT&T 10 miles into Canada but 2 miles into the US I lose my Rogers signal completely.
American's crank up their tower power. A lot. When I'm in Victoria, BC, I have to set my device to non-roaming (home only) so I don't get the ATT signal. Thankfully, Rogers sends me a text that says, "Welcome to the US! blah, blah, blah..." should I forget.
As suggested, force it to Rogers only.
My phone loses the network connection to Rogers constantly, and if I turn on automatic it flips between AT&T and Rogers every few minutes.
I live in White Rock facing the US, 2.5 km from a tower, and Rogers has told me there is nothing they can do to increase my signal. If I drive into Blaine I get full signal from Rogers. I suspect it is because I live on the slope of the hill and not sure if there is a solution.
My wife is on Telus and has no issues with reception.
For me, I went to North Dakota last week (Minot), 10km south of the border, I could get AT&T, and SaskTel's towers (which means Bell/Telus as well). Considering Manitoba was much closer to me than Saskatchewan, I was surprised Rogers didn't show up at all. Rogers finally started showing up (EDGE and not 3G, though 3G is supposed to be more widespread than EDGE here), but the service was weak, and my phone wanted to connect to AT&T after hitting the Canadian border instead.
Man gets hit by Brick Phone! Ouch!
^I find the Bell/Telus HSPA signal to be far more powerful and stable than Rogers pretty much everywhere. Not sure if that's because their transmit power is higher, or they have a more robust network, or both! I haven't been close to the US border with my Bell HSPA phone yet but I remember when I was with Rogers, I would always connect to AT&T while in the Niagara region...
