Twice as good. Well, at least its lower end 3g now. VM says unlimited throttled up to 256k on their plans so it would be similar to that. It is an improvement. I'm glad to hear that because from my checking with several Simple CSRs, they were claiming no change to anything but their $60 plan regular and Blackberry to $50 but apparently their $40 plan is too (though not to the degree we'd hoped of course...). They probably want to upsell folks to their higher priced plans and keep the $40 one around to be a price draw...

May I ask why you would like to ditch straight talk? Only reason I ask is because I'm thinking of jumping from AT&T postpaid to Straight Talk BYOD AT&T Sim.

If you're going to stay on the Att byod sim then I would definitely recommend straight talk. It's the only way to go. Red pocket, and H2O can't compete on pricing. Only thing they do have that's better is a clear description of your data allotment.

I'm on the tmobile byod sim.
I don't use much data when not on wifi, about 200mb.
I would rather save the $5 and get international texting. Besides, I work at a simple mobile dealer so I'd have much more control over my account than I do with straight talk. It's mostly a matter of comfort.

Simple Mobile's $40 plan reportedly has a 3gb cap. But I believe that's with the old 120k speed. I wonder if they've cut it down for the now true 3g (low end) speed. At least it's no longer false advertisement. With ST throttling and Simple speeding up, Simple has the edge (ha ha) in the under $50 unlimited talk/text/data class. Truly unlimited data is now dead with Verizon killing their non $80 smartphone plans and Boost/Virgin with a 2.5 gb cap (though Boost may not be implementing it that much . Yet.).
