    Any disadvantage of value plans

Looking at the SIM only 'value' plans.

The store rep told me that coverage is reduced with these plans. Is that true, is there less roaming or something? Any other disadvantages over the other more expensive post paid plans?

Sounds like the rep was confused. Value plans are post paid and do not have any different coverage or roaming rules. There are pre paid plans which I think have some different roaming rules, but those are not the same thing as the "sim only" value plans.

    The rep is incorrect.
There is a main difference between Classic and Value plan: phone subsidy.
If you bring your own phone, Value plan is more ideal, but keen in mind that once you sign Value Plan, you may not be able to switch to Classic Plan in 2 years.

2-year contract for the reduced cost of the plan. Only difference is, no phone subsidy. Coverage is the same.

One more disadvantage is that if you buy a phone with a T-Mobile value plan and pay a down payment on a phone, T-Mobile will not unlock it for you until you finish paying off the phone's balance. On a Classic plan, they would unlock it for you after 90 days in good standing.
