    switching to new microSD card

I have a Optimus V and I have purchased a larger MicroSD card.

What do I need to do in order to transfer the data from the existing card to my new card?

    thanks.

    This is what I did.........

Make sure "show hidden files and folders" is enabled on your PC, select all on the micro SD, right click copy, go to your desktop, create a new folder, open it, right click paste, then insert your new SD card, and copy everything back

That's what I first thought about doing but somewhere I had heard that I needed to format the microSD card specifically for the phone or operating system or something.

Just to be safe, I put the new card into the phone and let it "prepare SD card" immediately before I did the steps in Post #2. I'm not sure it changed anything, but it did work.

Well it worked for me. thanks for the help but I see that I must have another issue.

After going from a 2GB to 16GB microSD card the phone still shows that it low on phone storage. It must be referring to internal phone storage. What do I need to do to fix this? Move things from the internal phone storage to the microSD card?

I only have 8 apps installed and only 3 of them could be moved to the card. It only increased the phone storage by 3 mb.

That's weird, 8apps shouldn't take up all the memory. You may need to factory reset, or maybe root/from.

It could be that your installed apps are on the large side (you didn't mention how large they are). Assuming your internal storage is actually getting full, you can look into using Link2SD, which uses a second partition on your SD card to move installed apps onto. This is different from the move to SD option because the system thinks that the apps are on internal storage. You need to be rooted to use Link2SD.
