    Cheap Android Until Refarm?

Does anyone know a good cheap phone (you can define cheap) that I could use until I can use my D3 on 1900 UTMS? I just want something I can use for day to day with 1700/2100.

I also have a D3. I bought a water damaged myTouch 3G off ebay for $30. It has spots under the screen and the trackball doesn't scroll up, but it makes a great WiFi hotspot. I keep it at home and swap the SIM. I have WiFi at work, and I don't care if I only have EDGE while I'm driving around.

Word of advice... If you decide to go this route and are using the Chinese radio files, do NOT power up the D3 without a SIM card when the cellular antenna is on. You must activate airplane mode or insert a different SIM. Otherwise it will try to reactivate the CDMA antenna, which will cause an error in com.android.phone that will force you to do a restore. This happened to me and it was a tremendous PITA.

So far it hasn't been too bad but thanks for the warning. I'm on CM9 Kexec anyway so it may not happen to me that way.

I'm using Maverick ROM on top of Safestrap, so the underlying stock OS files may have had something to do with it. Just make sure you create a restore point bevore you try it. My latest Clockwork recovery was over a week old, and I lost a bunch of progress in a couple of games I play. I made a Titanium Backup right before restoring the image, but since the D3 links the internal storage area and the SD card, recovery copied the old backup files over my new ones. I was not happy.

After that I installed Tasker and set it to turn on airplane mode when the phone shuts down. Works like a charm.

Curious what you mean by cheap but apparently people in some areas have been able to get used sensations for $150. It's only a hspa14 device buy otherwise is a decent phone that you won't mind using.

If cheap is important how about the original G1? The very cheapest quality phone that can run Android is Tmobile's version of the Htc Touch Pro II. A fantastic phone for its day. I think the international GSM version was called Raphael but I don't know what the Tmobile version was called. It came with windows mobile 6.5 but the geniuses at XDA came up with an Android port. I had the Sprint version. Great phone.
