I'm back, buying S3 full price from Virgin, paying on a month to month basis, q'stion

I have spent the last 3 weeks doing research on what provider to go with (I've been without a phone for 2 years, I'm currently 17), what phone to get, what plan to get, coverage, reception, speeds, yada yada everything else that goes along with this. I've looked at every option, what's available and even what isn't.

What I have come down to is this:
I am looking to go to the Virgin store on Friday, buy the S3 outright, and start paying for the $60 6gb plan on a month to month basis. Because I am not 19, I have to go with my dad, and he has to get it in his name. My question regarding this is:

If my dad signs up an account with Virgin, will he have to have a phone and monthly plan of his own in order to add me to his name as a youth? (He already has a cellphone and does not want to buy another/pay more monthly for another plan) If so, he can just get the phone and plan under his name, which would be fine with me.

Another question: are there any prerequisites to this? I DO NOT want to be on a 3 year contract to get the phone cheaper, I want to buy the 32gb Samsung Galaxy SIII for full price, and pay on a month to month basis under my dads name.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hey Kercmerk!

You're a smart cookie! Way to research!

If your dad goes in with you, he can hook the account up in his name and use the phone you're buying to go on a month to month term with our awesome 6GB plan. No additional line required (unless of course he gets jealous of your awesome phone and wants one too!)

Also, if you're buying the phone full price, you're month to month! No contract at all. Contract terms or SuperTabs are there to help you get a discount on the price of the phone-- you agree to stick around, we help with the cost of the device. Cool, huh?

    Happy Shopping!

    Lots of Love,

    Virgin not perfect

I too will be going to Virgin as Rogers isn't interested in keeping a 10 year account. When my contract completes it will immediately double and they aren't interested offering anything close to what I have.

While the Virgin plans are good, the Koodo $60 plan beats Virgin's with CID/VM and Canada wide calling. Virgin won't match Koodo's plan. If they did I would have jumped shipped, paid my penalties and signed up right away.

What the above rep didn't tell you is that you can't but a 32GB SGS3 from Virgin. It looks like you can but they don't sell it. Even their SmartCare protection plan indicates this. Look... virginmobile.ca/en/support/smartcare.html

I'm not knocking Virgin they are good, but not perfect. I just wish Virgin would come to the table with:

    250 Canada Wide minutes
    - 5PM early evenings and weekends
    - Unlimited incoming calls
    - Unlimited Text and Picture Messaging
    - Caller ID and Voicemail
    - 6GB data
    $60/mnth

Are you sure they don't offer the 32gb model? I don't think they would let you pay for the 32gb online then send you a 16gb.

They show it online but when you click it the "flying off our shelves " line is displayed. Further research online finds that the 16gb and 32gb is for Bell while the 16gb is for VMC.

Did you look at the SmartCare Page yet?

I hope you can prove me wrong but that's what I've found.

It's alright guys, I went to the store yesterday and got hooked up with a plan They don't carry the 32gb, and they were out of the white model, so I had to go with 16gb blue, but the blue is really groiwng on me. Luckily, if they get another white model in within 2 weeks, I can take my blue and trade it in.

Thanks for all the help HF.com!
