A replacement probably won't help. And for me personally, rooting would be out of the question for such an expensive phone that still has warranty, even though I'm a huge proponent of roofing.

I would personally recommend the Samsung Galaxy S2 over the Blaze 4G if you're ever planning on switching. I bought my S2 in a like-new condition on ebay and love the phone.
It might be a while though, I also have the Optimus V and it's one tough phone that doesn't want to break, though I recently started seeing more random reboots, even after doing multiple factory resets.
Hell, if you wait even more, then the Galaxy S3 will reach a decent price too or Network Vision will reach your city, thus possibly changing your mind about switching after all.

<<Achieved on "America's Most Affordable 4G Network!"
I hear ya. The $30 plan might be gone by the time this phone craps out, lol.
I played with the S2 and the Blaze, I liked the Blaze's slightly smaller form factor, with about the same internals. Thanks for your input too, who knows what will be available when and if I actually make the move.![]()
To my amazment, I got the phone today and it came with the stock screen protector from out of the box. Additionally, it came with a back door and a new SD card... My only thought is that it is new. There are no scratches, nicks, or dents and the phone came with an SD card and battery door.. I've never had a "refurb" come with such.
Cool man good to hear.![]()
I confirmed the phone was not a refurb by doing ##CLEAR#. Thanks for all the help here, everyone.

That sums up the Evo V 4G in a nutshell. The WiMax (4G) is basically useless where I live. I can get a signal if I sit in the right park bench on the other end of town, and face west during a sunny day. Sprint's network just sucks all the way around. I truly feel sorry for Sprint's post-paid customers who are paying top dollar for this lousy excuse of a service.
The "Radio Resource Shortage" will screw up everything, especially texts and phone calls. It happens more frequently than it should. I missed a phone call for a job interview because of that issue. Sending texts can be very frustrating as well. This is unacceptable for a $300 phone, even on the $35/month service tier.
VM sucks. I'm through making excuses for them. Once I get a better job with a bigger paycheck, I'll be dropping this lame excuse of a carrier. Richard Branson ought to be horrified at what Sprint has done to his company. Sprint ought to be ashamed of itself for taking money from people and giving such crap service in return.
Before you give up on the phone completely, I suggest checking out the link that I posted below, it's a way to turn the EVO V 4G into a usable phone.

Basically, the phone behaves the way it does, because both HTC and Virgin Mobile have been too lazy to test it, but thanks to developers such as those in the link above, there may be some hope after all.
