How to delete an email account?

I want to delete my Gmail account from BIS. So I went into the email preferences and deleted the account. I then noticed that the mail folder icon for my Gmail account was still showing up, so I went in and deleted the Gmail service books. That seems to have removed the account. I now went back to using the Gmail app (the one provided by Google), but what I'm noticing is that it no longer shows the yellow star on the Gmail logo when I have new mail. It works fine on my wife's BB (she has the same model as me). The app does retrieve the new message, but it seems as if it is not recognizing it as a new message. Did I properly remove the Gmail account from BIS? Is there anything else I should have done?

Just out of curiosity, why did you delete the email account from BIS?

I didn't like the fact that I couldn't access my old emails - I always had to go into the Gmail app for that anyway, so now everything's in one place. The BB always removed messages automatically after 30 days which was pretty annoying. Besides, I'm dumping my BB in favor of an Android device soon anyway.

I was able to solve my initial problem by deleting the Gmail app and reinstalling it.
