FIDO CANCELED MY SERVICE FOR $7.81 overdue by 60 DAYS.

Before any one complains and *****es, I would like to Point out I know my bill was overdue and I know they have the right to cancel my service if not paid on time. I also know its my responsibility to make sure that I should pay on time & all of what is due.. Now here is the story

I have a Fido Line since 2003 or 2004 for a Family Member under my name, So whenever the family member gives me the cash to pay the bill, I put the cash in my Pocket & pay it with my credit card, this time my family member gave the money and I paid it but it was $7.81 short so I went head and paid what they gave me leaving behind a balance of $7.81, she figured she would just pay it with the next bill, by the time we got around to paying it, at this time $7.81 was overdue by 60 days, so they cancelled the line just for $7.81 for a client who has been with them since 2003 or so. Like I said I know its my responsibility to pay on time but I never thought they would cancel the service for a loyal client, Just because of $7.81 & we had to pay a $28 fee in addition to $7.81 to have the service back. Again I know its my fault for not paying it on time, but I never thought in a million years they would cancel the service for such a small amount and charge $28 to reinstate the service. Mobilicity Prepaid and or Wind Prepaid here I come on behalf of a Family Member May-31-2014 when my 50 month contract ends.

You mean they suspended the service not canceled the line... Also this is system automated. I don't think being a loyal client is a factor in the system.

I bet you paid right away once the line was suspended. Looks like the process worked (although it pissed off their client in the process)

The system worked perfectly. It doesn't matter how long you have been a customer everyone follows the same path. Also your line wasn't cancelled.

Based on the way you handle your finances according to your post, prepaid would be a fabulous option for your family.

    ^Thanks for the advice.

Well you can call it cancelled or suspended, it really has the same meaning at Fido. The fact is only way to have the service back was to pay the $7.81 along with a $28 charge. Any one calling the number while it was suspended/cancelled got the Number not in Service message.

Having Said that I am not a huge fan of Bell Mobility, I told a friend of mine about what happened he told me if my line was on Bell, I would have only been only suspended (this is what I think the word suspended really means) for outgoing calls. Incoming calls would work fine. Where on Fido while suspended/canceled any one calling you get number not in service.

The reality of the situation is Fido wanted their money to provide you with service. The "computer system" didn't care about how your family pays, or how long you've been a client, it simply wanted its money.

Now the question is: Were you or the end users contacted for payment, or was your service simply suspended?

^They claim they sent an SMS but we didn't get it cuz just the day they claim it was sent was the same day we had replaced the original Fido # from 2003 with a port in Telus Number. so we never got the SMS for that reason. I understand its an Automated system but the amount was so little, I would have never thought they would cancel the service for such a small amount

    Again, suspension is NOT cancellation.

Anyways; if they did not CALL, then procedure was not followed; but nonetheless, the money was owed. I'm not sure what you're hoping for here? Empathy? An apology from Fido? Simply trying to inform the public of what they already know?

^ I am not trying to accomplish anything, I knew the money was owed, that was the very first thing I said in my thread, I am just try to make the Public aware that's all. Going back on the topic of canceled versus suspended, it was cancelled, I well aware of what canceled and suspended means cuz any one that called got the message that the number was not in service. Had it been suspended it should have said something along the lines of person you are calling is currently unavailable.

Sorry Man, As much as I don't like the Big 3 and their Children. It is your job to pay the bill on time. Like others have said it was suspended. Why are you expecting them to not make money, charges are in their policy that you agreed to when you signed up. It is your job to work things out with your family member. A cell phone just like anything else is a paid service, will you complain, if a gas station refuses to give you gas, because you don't pay on time? Would it matter you have been going there for a 100 years? $28 is a cash grab, you chose the service, suck it up butter cup.

How is it fidos fault you didn't pay your bill. If your laxed with payments, prepaid is the way to go for you. I'm not defending fido but you agreed to pay. If you don't pay your car payments for three months you can say bye bye to your car.

^Can you please point to where I said it was Fido's Fault in my OP and Replies.

    Thanks..

By the way here is the first thing I said in my OP, I think you & the poster above you forgot to read it or just chose to read only certain parts of it. Any ways here it is again if you and the poster above you missed it:

It was suspended. Also the $28 fee is an attempt to stop people like you from doing the non-payment routine over and over.
