Do Pageplus and Verizon Wireless (i.e. postpaid) have the same call reception/signal

Seems like it would be a common question, but I did a search and found threads highlighting differences to be 3g vs 4g and roaming.

what about for someone who stays within a large MTA, does not need to worry about roaming or speed differences?

I just want that famous Verizon call quality at a better price -- will Pageplus give this?

I have heard Pageplus is close but not as good (call quality and signal strength). I heard Pageplus uses Verizon's pre-paid towers, which are not as robust as their post paid (i.e. traditional) towers.

Specifically, does anyone know if Pageplus's reception is strong enough to work in stucco homes with tekshield (the foil stuff they put in newer homes in warmer regions to help reduce attic heat)?

I am currently on Tmo and ever since moving into a new stucco house with tek sheild, signal strengtht has hit the toilet (0-1 bar). I know Tmobile is testing in home microcell technology /wifi with some customers, but I don't want to have to worry about utilizing that, if I could get my cell phone to work natively in my home that would be awesome. My home is spread out and has different areas, some kind of far from another.

I heard Verizon can do it in my area -- does that mean Pageplus will as well??

    Thanks

While I do agree that there is a correct forum for this, the thread will probably get moved anyway.

If you are in a native Verizon area, you will have the EXACT same signal every other Verizon customer has. There is no 'prepaid' network or tower. Only when roaming may things be a bit different, and that's roaming agreement dependent, not 'prepaid' network different. Verizon at this time does not prioritize traffic for postpaid vs prepaid, so you have nothing to worry about. Page Plus has an even better coverage map than Verizon does, so if you're curious about where is roaming vs postpaid, check it out.

If your final sentence was about whether you can use a Microcell on Page Plus, the answer is no.

Thanks, moving posting this in the PPC forum as well.

If by Microcell you mean the Verizon Network Extender, yes, it does work with Page Plus. I have one and any Verizon phone activated on Page Plus connects to it just fine. The caveat is that you cannot buy one directly from Verizon unless you are a Verizon customer.

I should clarify what I meant. You need a Verizon account to have a Microcell. Yes, a Page Plus phone may be able to connect to someone else's Microcell, but you can't activate a Microcell through Page Plus, nor get one a la carte through Verizon.

Not to be a smart ***, but these same threads pop up all the time, and the best answer is always the same. This goes for ANY service, prepaid or postpaid.

In this case, find someone with an old, unused (1)Verizon phone (everyone should know someone who has one, or buy something for $10 off craigslist, or if all else fails, someone on here might be generous enough to donate a used phone if you're that poor), go to (2)pagepluscellular.com and activate it for $10, then see if it works where you and your family need it to. This includes home, work, wife's work, gf's apartment, and VIP room at local, uhm, bar. If it doesn't work in one or more of those places that are essential, you're only out $10. If it works, get whatever handset you prefer, (3)go back to the Page Plus site and do an ESN swap. Done.

If anyone has this same question about other providers, use the following list and substitute them in place of (1), (2), and (3) above.

Straight Talk: (1)AT&T (2)straighttalk.com and order a SIM for $15 (3)swap the SIM into the new phone.
SIMPle Mobile: (1)T-Mobile (2)mysimplemobile.com and order a SIM (3)swap the SIM into your new phone.
    Boost/Virgin: (1)Sprint (2)boostmobile.com/virginmobileusa.com (3) ESN swap

If I didn't list your provider of choice, PM me and I'll give you what values to substitute in for (1), (2), and (3).

This should answer any and all questions ever to be asked about coverage of a given provider. It usually costs less than $20 even if you have to buy a phone off of craigslist, and you will know definitively if the provider you wish to switch to is going to work where you need it to.

Asking on here really is futile, since unless someone on HoFo has been in your house they have no idea which carriers work there and which ones don't.

Their is no such thing as Pre paid towers this is a lie made up by uneducated Verizon store reps. The call quality is the same, only thing you don't get I'd level of customer service

I see all the Verizon employees want this thread moved. Page Plus is an MVNOusing the Verizon Network
