I'm on unlimited data and I pay for verizon unlimited hot spot feature. Usually i can down2-4 music hd videos in 5 minutes but today its taking me 23 minutes to download one video. I'm aggravated and don't think this is right. I also know how to use pdanet and foxfi. If Verizon continues to severely throttle me I will file with my attorney general and bbb.
Your complaining about the speedtest you posted???
thats what my speed use to be. Today its taking me 30 minutes to download a 120mb file!
I noticed this also then after googling verizon throttling I came up with this
http://www.droid-life.com/2011/09/16...ata-customers/
Apparently doesnt affect 4g customers but i definitely had my speed throtttled earlier today, now they seem to be back to normal
If I'm annoyed and you're annoyed, does that make us a paranoid ??
Sarcasm is a fine art...
"Don't believe everything you think"
It's not a matter of if you win or lose, it's how you assign the blame
You know there are many factors that affect the speed? Besides, Verizon is not allowed to throttle 4G connections.
I'm also paying for the hotspot feature and on Verizon unlimited plan (grandfathered). Anyway, when I first got my SIII for a few days I was seeing very consistent impressive speed (22Mb/s) with 50msec latency. I used about 1.5Gb of data, and now I'm averaging about 3Mb/s down with 1600 msec latency. That isn't horrible, but I drop data connections so frequently as to make their service completely unusable.
These results all from same location (my home) with strong Verizon 3G/4G signal. Can't explain it, but yeah, my initial take was Wow, this is faster than my cable modem. I haven't been able to reproduce those numbers I got when I first got online with my phone.
I've tried in a few other locations around town-- still not great speeds, and not able to reliably stay connected (which is the much bigger problem). If this is actually Verizon's action, their 4G isn't going to be worth any money to anyone.
(I'm still not convinced my own SIII is a lemon and needs replacing-- I've also been dropping voice calls etc.)

Welcome to my world. I've been getting throttled data speeds over the past year. I have no LTE here so it's 3G for me. My speeds used to be great and I could easily watch a Hulu movie with no buffering while tethered to my laptop. I recently noticed some throttling control settings while browsing files on my Maxx. I've used SQLite to make some adjustments and my speeds not only improved but I get far fewer data drops than before. So far im about two days into this adjustment and so far it's been 90% better at least. LTE should be in my hood later this year. That shall be a game changer.
Does the throttling stop on a new billing cycle with LTE?
Sent from my HTC Amaze 4G
Their not throttling LTE (yet)
Verizon doesn't throttle either 3G or 4G if you are using a 4G device.
From Verizon's website:
"Does Network Optimization apply to customers using 4G services?
No. We reserve the right to include 4G LTE users later, but right now this only applies to the top 5% of users with unlimited data plans using 3G devices. If you have a 4G LTE device you will not be affected at this time."
Not correct. I've been getting 3g throttling for months on my maxx.Originally Posted by ohio818;1488'

The OP is claiming he got throttled on, I presume, LTE.
*IF* LTE throttling is indeed the case, it would stop when the OP starts a new billing cycle. This is the way it works on 3G.
LTE is not throttled yet.
Is Verizon throttling people with unlimited 4G LTE data plans now?
