That would be no different than if you were on contract with that network. So if you got the BYOD AT&T SIM for example, the number of dropped calls is the same as AT&T postpaid assuming the same phone (since some phones are worse than others).

This last is the kind of question that can only be answered in a generic way. The answer is, any dropped call issue is due to coverage/capacity of the selected underlying carrier, and would be roughly the same as the brand-name carriers' subscribers' experience. You make a bad choice of underlying carrier and you'll have coverage issues, but certainly no worse than that carrier's regular customers. The subject of "dropped call" count is something the marketing people of companies like AT&T and Verizon Wireless used to use a lot in beating up on each other when comparing their service in places like big cities, either because one network or the other wasn't built-out enough in a given area, or like when AT&T was having big trouble in NYC and San Francisco a while back when iPhone usage was picking up steam and their network couldn't handle the traffic. Any reports mentioned like "yeah, Straight Talk drops my calls out here in BFE, their coverage sucks" have to be taken as anecdotal, because you've got to do your homework on who has good coverage and in what locations. Knowing that you can get service with practically all available nationwide carriers at a savings, depending on where you're at and where you might want to go, means doing the research and inquiring about all this on sites like Howard Forums will likely pay off in being a more satisfied customer.

Huh? A lot of us had the impression you wanted Verizon as the underlying carrier, not AT&T.

I apoligize for not making it clear I wanted to do the AT&T sim path. I was saying I want to leave Verizon for ST whether it being AT&T or TM sim, but being AT&T has better coverage in North Dakota than TM, I would go with the AT&T sim.

What do user's typically go with as far as phone insurance? Does ST offer insurance for the Galaxy Nexus if it was purchased through Google Play?

Any other insurance information would be helpful as well.

ST doesn't offer phone insurance but you can buy a SquareTrade insurance for the GN.

Actually, as of this writing, ST has 3 Androids for the VZW network. Samsung Galaxy Proclaim, Galaxy Showcase (S950C) and the LG Zip.

You might run your VZW service in parallel with your ST phone for a few weeks to see if you have adequate coverage in your normal travel area. Then, if you like the service, just port over your VZW number and replace your ST number if you wish to keep the old VZW number. It's a pretty painless process. That's what I did.

If you have a Google voice number, you could start using that and just direct whatever cell number you end up with to your GV number. That way you can change numbers and providers without worrying about constant cell number changes. But that would take a while to educate everyone of your contacts.

The map coverage indicators tend to be rather vague and inaccurate, but VZW has the best native coverage that I'm aware of.

Go here and check the prepaid button, then refresh to see what the native coverage looks like:

I've gotten close to 7 Mbps down in a few locations, and even pull 4-5 at my home late at night (neighbors call this little area "cell Hell" for ALL carriers).

As far as T Mobile, they are still 2G here, so I would definately go with AT&T sim or phone.

What was the data speed for Verizon with straight talk?

I've seen the S950C mentioned in the forums a few times but have yet to see it listed for sale on the Straight Talk website.

Other than the tutorial being listed, is the S950C available for purchase?

I've been watching for it too. I am under the impression that it is available in some markets but not all. I have no idea why that would be. If you have VZW coverage, why not make all VZW phones available?
