X10 2.1 to unofficial 2.3, now I need to factory restore...how?!

Hi, about a year ago I upgraded my SE X10a running android 2.1 to X10i 2.3 gingerbread.

Don't ask me how I did it since Im a total illiterate geek, a wanna be geek so I usually just follow instructions without thinking.

Anyway, I am finally selling my phone today in about 5 hours but I need to erase all my info.

It won't let me log out of my gmail account unless I perform a Factory reset but I am affraid that if I do so, it will go back to 2.1 or worse brick it.

How can I fix this then? Am I right about the bricking and all that?

and.....If I format the micro sd card, will it keep on working well?

i own a pro. i don't know if things are the same in a way since it's s.e.

have you tried pc companion - repair/ update?

I did it through factory reset.
