    Droid 2 or Droid Pro

Looking to get another phone. Currently have a Palm Pre Plus but I miss my android and all the apps. Trying to narrow it down to either a Droid 2 or Droid Pro. I need a physical keyboard and those are the only two that have one in my price range(less than $100). I wanted a Droid 3 but those prices are too steep. Have to wait until next year for the Droid 3.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Droid Pro if you strongly prefer a portrait keyboard. Otherwise, the Droid 2 has better specs. Spec comparison

There's the Droid 2 and the Droid 2 Global. The Droid 2 Global has the advantage of having both CDMA and GSM, which is good for overseas travel but can also be useful in 9-1-1 situations in the US. Or you could get it unlocked to also use it for non-emergency calls on US GSM networks like AT&T and T-Mobile; that's handy for backup carriers or alternatives to Page Plus. However, unlike the CDMA-only version, the global version doesn't have an official CyanogenMod port (if that's important to you).

The Droid Pro is a world phone like the Droid 2 Global, so it shares those advantages too. It doesn't have an official CyanogenMod port (again, if that's important to you).

No the CyanogenMod port is not important as I don't plan on rooting. Thanks for the response. I basically wanted to know if one was better than the other. I like both. So I'm still in a toss up. Do they both have Gingerbread?

Yes, they both have Gingerbread. If it were me, I'd go for the Droid 2 or the Droid 2 Global. The Droid Pro is lower-end. I'd have to really want a portrait keyboard to get the Droid Pro.

Another factor to consider is the accessory ecosystem for each phone. More popular phones should have a wider selection of cases, mounts, docks, batteries, etc. available for them. I haven't seen any sales figures, but my hunch is that the Droid 2 sold better than the Droid Pro. If accessories matter to you, look into that.

I was more leaning towards the Droid 2 because of the bigger screen than the Droid Pro. Thanks for the input.. looks like I'm getting a Droid 2.

If you're considering the Droid 2, remember to also look at the Droid 2 Global, because the price difference is usually minimal. In addition to having GSM capabilities, the Droid 2 Global also has a faster processor.

I wound up getting the Droid 2. Found one in excellent condition for 69.00. I wanted to get a Droid 2 global but they were all over my price range. Plus I really want the Droid 3. So the Droid 2 will do for now until maybe next year when the prices for the Droid 3 go down.
