Yes. My AT&T iPhone 4s roams on Tmobiles edge network.
I have an Infuse 4G and I normally get around 6-8Mbps down. I would always go for a HSDPA+

I live in Salem Oregon, and was on the Oregon Coast in Coos Bay last month when it roamed on edge. Depending on how far from town I got I still had full bars of 4G, but the closer I got to the ocean it went to edge then eventually no signal.
Yes, the AT&T sim will roam onto tmobile, but only if there is 0% signal from an AT&T tower. S if you still have a very weak signal, even one that will drop calls and be miserable' it will not roam. It doesn't find the tower that has the strongest signal, but will only roam when there is absolutely no signal from the primary provider (in this hypothetical case, AT&T)
In those cases you would not get Edge T-Mobile speeds either. So, you wouldn't get T-Mobile at all.
I was clarifying the other post that said ST "AT&T" sim users would roam on T-Mobile at "Edge" speeds if AT&T were not available:
Is his AT&T iPhone 4s roams on T-Mobile's Edge, it's because the iPhone 4s does not have the capability to receive T-Mobile's HSPA+ frequencies. My Galaxy Nexus (with ST AT&T sim) does have that capability, and therefore will receive both AT&T and T-Mobile HSPA+ speeds. < IF Straight Talk still allows the different carrier crossover or "roaming".
I've heard MANY people on here mistakenly say that the ST AT&T sim will ONLY "roam" on T-Mobile towers on Edge speeds. It's NOT the sim that sets the speed limit, it's the phone.
Now if Straight Talk no longer allows ST AT&T sims to receive T-Mobile signal at all, then that's something else entirely different.
I have this issue in a town where I sometimes have occasion to list or sell a home. ATT doesn't have enough signal to be usable. Phone won't roam, even tho there's a T-Mobile tower above me. I had the thought to get a TMobile pre-paid sim to have a usable phone there. However, would I need to unlock my ATT branded Inspire for this to work?

My Phone Can Amortize, Can Yours?
I mean a TMobile prepaid sim, NOT a Straight Talk (TMobile) sim. That way I can use paygo, not pay another $45 per month.

Kind of sucks,,,where I am at I used to get awesome 3g+ speeds but now I lose signal and have a lot of places that I only have edge where I used to be 3g....Bark mobile has been taking over all the towers here and its killing straight talks signal....
You can unlock any branded AT&T phone for free by just calling the att customer service # and just be polite and tell them that your going to another country and need to take that phone. Ive done it many times.
