anyone use an online factory unlock service for iPhone 4S?
I am currently using my Iphone 4s with gevey sim on tmobile
I wanted to buy a factory unlock. I know most of them online are scams. I have seen some services on ebay that look ok. Has anyone got an unlock from ebay?
I tried checking around my area and some want $100 to $150 to unlock.
I see this one website that charges $60 USD
(sorry gave wrong amount, its 60 pounds, about $90 USD )
offical iphone unlock based in the UK. http://www.officialiphoneunlock.co.uk/
reading their facbook page and youtube testimony, they look like a honest company.
they even offer a 50% discount if a person does a youtube testimony.
can anyone give me advice thanks

You will have to call the carrier that the phone is on org. And ask them to have the phone unlocked by APPLE they are the only ones that can unlock iPhone no one else can do it . So don't waste money ,, the org carrier must submit to apple and then you can login to iTunes and apple will will give you a screen that says congrat's your phone has been unlocked..

That's not true. I've used 3rd-party unlock services in the past and they do exactly what they say, place your IMEI on Apple's whitelist, just like the carrier would do. Not saying they're all legitimate, but if they have good feedback and happy users I would say go for it.
I am a little confused. My Verizon phone was able to roam on GSM because they used TDMA. Tell it was shutdown. The phone recognizes it as Analog. If PCS has TDMA, It could be technically be used on GSM.

Hell, I don't blame you. Some of these 3rd party sites online do seem REALLY sketchy. I did however want to share my experience. I unlocked two AT&T iPhones (both iPhone 4) with a 3rd party unlocker with no problems. I've unlocked Blackberries with them in the past for like $2, and they were always timely and reliable, so I wasn't nervous about spending some extra money at all. The iPhones took a bit longer, about an hour each. And it wasn't like the other phones where I had to enter an unlock code. I had to connect my iPhone to iTunes once I was done, and got a "Congrats your phone is now unlocked" message on the screen. But now I'm using the phones happily on Straight Talk.
They're the cheapest site I know of. They charge like $45 to unlock an iPhone (and much cheaper for other models), in comparison to some other places that charge like $100. Hope this helps. Good luck!
Thanks for the tip. Been seeing a lot eBay and just not sure. Did that site let you use PayPal ? I will look more into their site when I get a chance. Thanks.
I used a local guy I found on CraigsList and it worked fine. Took a few days and I must say, I did have my doubts, but it was only $30 so I wasn't sweating it too much. Besides, I used VISA with paypal and figured I could always contest the payment if services were not provided as promised. I had my wife's phone done next, and he'd raised his price to $40 by then, but it still went through and I have tested both with T-Mobile and a few foreign sim cards from Europe & Mexico.
I never got the iTunes message, or maybe I missed it onscreen, but an IMEI website that reports status also says they're both unlocked.

How to Factory Unlock your AT&T iPhone permanently
It seems like some of us here are a bit confused in terms of getting our AT&T iPhones unlocked. If you think you can get it done through AT&T, it's not an easy feat because they have a long list of criteria that you have to meet before they're willing to release the unlock to you.
This is my experience. I had two AT&T iPhones, an iPhone 4 and an iPhone 4s, which I was using gevey sims to unlock for international use (frankly a pain in the butt with the 112 and and the dreadful NO SERVICE messages). I tried getting them unlocked through AT&T several times with no success. Thought it might have been the CS reps being difficult, so I kept trying. But it was the same deal. I would be told that they would be unlocked, then I'd receive an email a few days later saying I was not eligible. So, I eventually went to one online vendor I knew of (having unlocked a Blackberry with them in the past before for a ridiculously low fee like $2). They were timely and reliable, and answered all my questions about my 9900, ALL FOR $2! So it seemed right in having them unlock my two iPhones as well. The iPhones took a bit longer to unlock. About an hour each. And the process wasn't like my Blackberry where I had to enter an unlock code. They sent me an email saying my phone was unlocked. Then following their instructions, I connected my iPhone to iTunes, and voila, got a "Congratulations your phone is now unlocked" message on the screen. Now I'm using both phones happily on prepaid network Straight Talk, and on other GSM networks when I travel internationally for work. I've also updated my software to the latest version (NO MORE crappy 4.3.5! YES!) and done some restores, and the unlock never went away.
As far as I know they're the cheapest around. I paid $45 to unlock each iPhone, which is nothing in comparison, really, to some of the other places out there that charge $100+. Plus, I'm glad gevey sims are a thing of my past.

Could you share the website you used to check the imei for unlock, i've been looking for a website like that with no luck
Thanks
You're right. I've unlocked them mainly for international use when I travel for work.
But the question is: will MMS work on iphone 4/4S on ST? I got my 3GS unlocked from Att and did get MMS working fine, but have heard the 4/4S phones cannot process MMS.
I guess a person could get iPhone unlocked by 3rd party but if your in good standing w/carrier you should be able to come up with a story in my case I got i4 from friends son and told AT&T that son had given it to me this was done at the time when AT&T started unlocking gave email and the next day had good news. As for MMS I am not sure if Tetherme supports i4s but it works fine for all other models. It would be nice to have 3 rd party give a code to unlock but apple is the game Monoply But it's one of the nicest phones I've used just wish it had a larger screen .
To the person who is using an unlock iPhone with straighttalk with a TMobile sim: get an att straighttalk sim for 3G. iPhone's using Tmo sim is only 2G.
