How do i remove my number from these phones? (LG 6070, LG 245)

I got these two from family and i want to trade/give them away on CL. However my family's phone number is still the default number on these phones.

How do i remove their number? going in to the security panel just lets me reset the texts/call history/contacts.

How do i disassociate their numbers with the phones? (LG 6070, LG 245)

Thank you for anybody who can help. Google has been failing me all day.

Here is a link (below) to where I posted first a question and then a solution to the question you're asking. It was for an LG non-smartphone for Verizon.

If the first step (##program + model-number-of-your-LG-phone) does not access the service menu of your TELUS LG phone, if you can find out how to access it for your phone then hopefully the rest of the steps in my post for erasing the phone number can be applied to your TELUS LG phone.

    Thank you for the response.

I really don't know how to type the 'Dial ##program9600' part. Also, Do i just change the 9600 to 6070 and 245? (the models of my phones.)

Sorry, I just really have no clue what i'm doing here.

On the one hand, the phone that I successfully removed the phone number from was, like your two LG phones, an LG non-smartphone.

On the other hand, our LG phone was for the U.S. cellular service provider Verizon Wireless while your two phones are for the Canadian cellular service provider TELUS.

The menus that I had to enter before I could remove the phone number are informally referred to by people on this forum as either the service menus or the programming menus or the secret menus.

On non-smartphones, accessing these menus seems to typically require using the number keys on the cellphone to enter a sequence of #-symbols and numbers, and you enter the numbers that correspond to the letters. Then, for the Verizon Wireless phones, press the [send]-key.

So for our phone, the instruction to "dial ##program8700" means to use the number keypad to enter this sequence of keys followed by pressing the [send]-key:
    # # 7 7 6 4 7 2 6 8 7 0 0 (where 7 7 6 4 7 2 6 corresponds to the letters p r o g r a m)

The phone then asks you to enter a six digit called either a "service code" or an "SPC (Service Provider Code)"

I've found that 99% of the time that the information that I need for various tricks and secret menus can be found on this forum. There's a way to use google to search a forum which is especially handy when the search words are three letters or less. So for your phones, I tried various phrases such as this one in the google search box:
    lg 6070 programming menu site:howardforums.com

Eventually I found out that your two phones require a completely different code and a completely different "service code" to access the programming menus. In the next two posts I've quoted different posts that have further information on these codes for your two models.

Unfortunately, I had not so far come across any posts from someone that attempted on your two models what I was able to do on our model. I don't take that to mean that it's not possible. But I figure what you will have to do is carefully explore the secret menus and look for the particular information that I posted in this (link) in posts two and three. Be slow and careful as you explore the secret menus because changing information carelessly could impair the functioning of the phone.

On this forum there is a section for TELUS customers. Maybe someone there might be able to further help you.

Before you proceed to read the next two posts, here is a summary of my findings:

For the LG 6070, people on this forum have posted both the initial code to access the secret menu and the "sevice code". And based on some of the quotes in the following post, my best guess is that the menu where you have the best chance of finding the information that corresponds to the information on our LG phone in this (link) is ##TELUS

For the LG 245, according to the posts that I found, while the initial code is known it'll take a little extra work to figure out what the "sevice code" is. For that, you'll need a cable that hopefully was bundled with the LG 245 to connect it to the USB port on a computer; you'll need to download and run a piece of software called BitPim; and you may need to find and download (hopefully available from either TELUS's website or LG's website) a software driver so that your computer will know how to communicate with your LG phone when it's plugged in to the computer.

While there are tutorials out there on how to use BitPim, my thinking is that is that you try first with the LG 6070 to see if you can find the information in the secret menus that corresponds to the information that I found for our LG phone. If you're successful in finding that information, then hopefully the LG 245 has information that is similiar and accessible in the secret menu.

to access the service code of most of telus' newer cell phones, including the 4600, type in "##DEBUG (##33284)" into the phone in standby mode. when asked for the service code, enter "183729" from there, you will see the service menu of the phone, including the SID, the tempurature of the phone, and etc. to get to the different menus, including the programming menu, you can type one of the following commands once in the service menu:

    ##DATA
    ##TELUS
    ##RTN
    ##BROWSER
    ##TEST

when you enter any of these commands, from the service menu not the standby menu, you will be prompted for another service code. to bypass this step, simply close and then open the phone. you will then have access to these menus. to access the programming of the NAM, or the service providers, type ##TELUS. then select the NAM1 option, and from there you can proceed to program the phone.
    http://www.howardforums.com/showthre...ELUS-quot-Code

##TELUS is the code for NAM programming menu for many newer Telus handsets. It is the place where you program the handset manually with settings such as the phone number, SIDs, etc. The "lock code" it asks is the SPC (Service Provider Code) / MSL (Master Subsidy Lock).
    http://www.howardforums.com/showthre...070-Cool-Stuff
You can get to the temp, signal strength, etc., by punching in ##DEBUG and then entering 183729 as the service code. It takes a few seconds the first time into the screen before you see any data.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

so I just dial in ##33284 (which spells debug) then dial 183729 right after the debug? Sorry I am new to this.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You punch in ##DEBUG as you did already, then click the left soft-key (labelled Save) and it will prompt for the 183729.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LG phones from Teslus have follow hidden menus:
    ##Debug
    ##Telus
    ##Browser
    ##Test
    ##Data
    ##RUM

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What are the service codes for these menus? Please post them. Thanks.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The only one you need is the code for ##DEBUG. It's 183729. Once you're in the debug screen, you can use any of the other codes by punching them in, clicking save, and when it asks you for the service code, close the flip and reopen it. Voila. This appears to be a backdoor.

BUT BE CAUTIOUS ABOUT WHAT YOU DO IN THESE SCREENS as if you don't know what you're doing, you may end up with a phone that doesn't work. If you don't know what a setting is, don't touch it.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    1) Open Flip
    2) Punch in ##DEBUG (##33284)
    3) Push left soft-key (save)
    4) When prompted, enter 183729 as service code
    5) You're now on the debug screen displaying SID, Mode, Channel, AC State, etc., etc., etc.
    6) Without leaving the debug screen, punch in ##TELUS (##83587)
    7) Push left soft-key (Save)
    8) Close flip
    9) Open flip
    10) You're in the "Services" screen.

This is how it works on my phone. I'm wondering if you are leaving the debug screen and going back to the wallpaper before you type in ##TELUS. If that's what you're doing, don't. Follow my steps above instead.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why would i want to go into the debug and servicies screen?

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Probably only if you're a geek like many of us on this forum. On the debug screen you can see your exact signal strength, what frequency you're on (1900mhz vs 800mhz), phone temperature, battery level, etc. Sometimes I drive around with the debug screen on and watch the signal and p_channels to see when I switch towers, and I try to find the tower based on the signal strength, etc. During a call, if you can read the faint screen (as the backlighting turns off during the call), you can watch error rates, see what voice codec is in use, etc.

But average users wouldn't even know it exists, much less wanting to go in there. It's just for geeks like myself.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That debug menu is quite interesting but I dont know what most of that stuff means. Is there a site or doc somewhere that can teach me all about it?

Also, why does my battery meter fluctuate in that menu? It was at 4.03. then it went to 4.0 then it went up to 4.01.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Channel: identifies which band you're using. In the west, channel 350 is 1900MHz and and 384 is 800Mhz. (It's different in other parts of the country though).

Rx Power: this is the strength of the signal being received from the tower. The smaller the negative number the better. So, -80 is better than -90. If you're in a call, the Tx Power will show your phones transmitting signal strength.

Ec/Io: this is a measure of the channel noise. Other users making calls in your cell will produce what your phone considers "noise", i.e. signals on the channel that it's not interested in. Again, the smaller the negative number the better. So -05.5 is better than -13.5, etc.

Both Rx Power and Ec/Io are factored into the signal meter bars at the top of your screen. If the Rx stays about the same but the amount of noise on the channel goes up enough, you'll see the bars drop.

Active Pilot: this identified what "cell" you are on. So it's a particular cell on a particular tower. Most towers are either arranged so they have 3 cells or 4, covering 120 degrees or 90 degrees. I think maybe all Telus towers have 4 cells? But don't quote me on that, there may be other configurations. You can look up cell tower locations and picutres of equipment, etc., at geckobeach.com

Temperatue and Batt are pretty self explanatory. The battery level does fluctuate a bit. I'm not sure why but they all do.

In term of the secret menu thing, you just have to do ##TEST then hit OK, put in the SPC code and there you go.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    ok, stupid question:
WHERE exactly to I type in ##TEST? Are you referring to the menu on the actual phone, cause that doesn't work for me. Please specify (same for the ##JAVA code you mentioned before).
    Thanks

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    ##TEST is really ##8378
    ##JAVA is really ##5282

Remember hit "OK" key after enter ##xxxx
Of course I assume you have already know you SPC code.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ok, this might sound like a stupid question.

but how do you find your SPC code?

    thanks

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You can get it using bitpim by looking at the file nvm\nvm\nvm_0000, first 6 digits number is the one

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    I've found these menus:
    ##DATA
    ##DEBUG << phone specs
    ##TELUS << programming menu
I was very excited when I found that one, but nothing much useful there. [...]
