I just got back from Europe with a brand new factory unlocked unbranded PS Vita 3G. All Vitas sold in Europe are factory unlocked unlike the US Vitas which are locked to AT&T and Canada doesn't even offer the 3G Vita (and if it ever did in the future it would be locked to Rogers lol).
The Vita just takes a regular standard SIM card and (at least for the European model) is a 'world device' as it has support for GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz) and UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz) so it is fully compatible with both Telus 3G bands. There is no region locking either so it is fully compatible with all games sold in Canada and the Canada Playstation Store.
Now I am not sure yet if I will activate it on 3G or just tether (depends on cost) just wondering what would be the best and cheapest way to activate this on Telus? I already have a 6GB $30 plan for my phone. Is there any way I can activate a second sim card and add this Vita to use my existing pool of 6GB data? Thanks,
There's no way to share your data pool. The best plan would likely be the flex plan for tablets which starts at $5 for 10MB and goes up to $35 for 5GB.
