Travelling to Ireland with HTC Desire

I'm headed to Ireland for a month and want to get an O2 pay-and-go SIM.

1. I read in GSM arena that while Canada uses 850/1900 for 2G, Ireland uses 900/1800. The Desire is quad-band 850/900/1800/1900 so I can use the phone AS a phone right?
   
2. Next point - their 3G connection is UMTS 2100. In Canada (for Bell) it's 850/1900. I'm out of luck there aren't I? Best just to use Wifi where I can and text-messages?

Pretty sure it'll work just fine.

Specs on HTC website say for Desire C:
HSDPA/WCDMA:
Europe/Asia: 900/2100 MHz
GSM/GPRS/EDGE:
850/900/1800/1900 MHz

Then you go to http://www.o2online.ie/o2/shop/phone...e-c-white/221/ and you can see they're selling the Desire C on their network.
In the little specifications box on their site it says:
GSM/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
HSPA/WCDMA: 900/2100 MHz



Provided of course the Desire "C" is the right device.

IT's the original HTC Desire, not the C.
