9790 OS7.1 upgrade

I'm just wondering what people would recommend for an OS7.1 upgrade for my son's 9790? I've so far convinced him to wait this long but he's getting impatient and his carrier (WIND) is one of the last in NA to issue an update for this phone, certainly the last in Canada and it doesn't look like it's coming down the pipe anytime soon. I can't remember where I got my update from so I'm no help to him.

Any carriers OS will work, as long as it is for the device. You do not need to wait until the provider releases the "official" OS. All you need to do is delete the vendor .xml file before loading it on the phone. As for which one is the best, no idea.

7.1.0.569 Official from Telstra. Uninstall any prior OS using add/remove programs. Then run this installation, and delete the vendor.xml as Heavy Fluid mentioned. You can wipe the phone with JL_cmdr and then re-install the software and restore your backup. Went with Telstra and sat with him while he ran the update himself. He's now happier than a pig in the perverbial and has trotted off to finish setting his phone up.
