Advice on getting a discount? Spent 2100$ in the last 18 months
So my phone died the other day. I'm 13 months away from end of contract.
In the past 18 months I've paid telus $2112.63, $891.82 of that in the past 5.
My rate plan is student 55, (200 minutes, fav 10 nationwide, 1gb data, 6pm nights/weekends, unlimited texts, VM3, call waiting, conference calling.) I also have free nationwide telus to telus from before i signed this current contract, and I've had 8$ call display addon the entire time. base price of 63$+tax/month has averaged out to 117$/month including tax.
Considering how much I pay on average, what are the chances I can get loyalty to waive the cancellation fee and let me renew my plan and get a discounted 3-year price for a new phone? What is my strategy when talking to them?
I called asking what my options were for replacing my broken phone. rep explained 130$ early renewal fee. I asked if it could get waived, he transferred me to retentions.
Retentions said they couldnt do anything. Then said one sec when I didnt sound too impressed (not rude, just saying oh.... oh really eh?) and came back offered 25% discount.
Then I asked whether they match plans, as bell is offering a small business plan that offers a bunch of stuff. she laughs and explains how all the big 3 have been offering it on and off for a bit now. She puts me on it.

You can use BB on your plan ... or any phone ... MHSI APN Access : tether is include on your plan ! 911 is include on your plan you don't pay 911 charge ... basic voice mail = voicemail 10
