    Service in Vancouver?

I'm looking to get some opinions on how Wind & Mobilicity is in Vancouver.

Reception? Call quality? Dropped Calls? Data speed/reliability? Issues?

All over Vancouver (Kits, Downtown, East Van, etc).

Wind & Mobilicity obviously have much better rates than the big 3 but reliability is at least as important as price to me.

So anything you could share would be helpful. Thanks.

Check on this link for coverage in the Vancouver area. The more green the better.

I tried mobi,rogers,telus/koodos,and wind. The most reliable and strongest signal everywhere in bc for me is rogers. Have no regrets going with wind though. Wind isnt as bad as what people think and very reliable. Im not making calls all day though. Use wind mainly for the cheap data and use over 7 gb a month.

No way Rogers is the most reliable everywhere in BC. Telus/Bell has waaaay better coverage.
The word 'Pentaband' means '5 Bands', from the Greek word 'pente' meaning '5'. For a phone to be pentaband it has to support 5 bands. If the phone has AWS support, it doesn't automatically mean that it is pentaband. The reason Wind and Mobilicity users like pentaband phones is because the reverse is true. We're not the only ones who like pentaband phones though, so please stop referring to phones that work on Wind and Mobilicity as pentaband. It causes unnecessary cofusion.

Are you talking in their CDMA days or very recently?

I've found coverage post-CDMA to be much better than Rogers.

Don't you live on the East Coast?

Also, in Mississauga, comparing signals WIND usually has a better signal than Bell. Yet Bell's network is still more reliable.
    Nevermind Bell.. LTE is fine.

If you don't need a data plan, then go with something like Chatr, since you can use the very good Rogers network. I have a wind cell phone, which I use for business calls. It is handy since Canada and North American wide is free. If I ever have to call Florida for example, the phone is very handy.

It all depends on the area, which may or may not work fine for you. Generally outdoors the reception is not bad, but going into buildings is where you will start to find issues, as the penetration of the signal is not that great. It does work better in the main metro areas, and the coverage becomes more spotty as you move out into the suburbs.

My opinion: If you can borrow a wind AWS phone, then try out the wind service for a month. If it is unbearable to you, then look into switching to Telus/Rogers/Bell.

Sure, in some municipal areas Bell isn't as good, but when you consider rural areas, there's places Rogers doesn't have towers for hundreds of KM that Telus (and by extension Bell) does.

I spent a few days there last week. Wind has fairly good coverage there, some weak spots but coverage wise better than Mobi as I experienced along the hwy between the cities.

I've been using Wind's service for two years now, and have no regrets. There are areas with weak signal, but it is a developing network as opposed to the more established ones from Telus etc. (I was expecting that, and was used to it from my days with Clearnet.) The price is great ($40 HMP) and I really appreciate not having to ever think about limits for talk, text and data. As others have said, it is worth testing out but speaking personally I have no plans to switch away.

If the phone worked a bit better at my home and in my basement, then I would only have Wind, and not anything else. You can't beat the price if it works for you.
