I guess if your a newbie to all of this its ok but I have no faith in a cheap phone.
ZTE, Kyrocera, Huawei etc are mostly just cheap, entry level phones.
I'd spend a few more bucks and get the Optimus Elite or HTC One V.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the "Chaser" smart phone? I see few reviews, because it's still very new...thinking that it might be right for me, since I've never had an android before...Can you give me some guidance?
I use more text than talk, and I'd like to surf the web (google, Facebook, yahoo, you tube)... Thoughts?
Thanks in advance!![]()

I would personally go for the Elite - better hardware and much more solidly built. Definitely worth the $50 extra IMO, especially if you plan to keep it for a while.
Well, yeah, I am kind of a newbie to the whole "smart phone" "android" thing. And cost IS an issue. I figured I could futz around on the inexpensive one to learn my way, and then upgrade at a later time. It's more of an "I want to see what this is" thing... Anyway, I ordered it using my account balance, and I should have it in a few days. After I get it going, I'll post a review.... we'll see...![]()

Well, I got the Chaser last week. I haven't activated it on my account yet because I'm still trying to figure things out. The instruction guide is WOEFULLY lacking for those of us who've never had an android before. It's a nice little phone though. Battery life is ok, the screen is clear and the touch is very responsive. I've downloaded some games and added my music to it and it plays flawlessly. No skipping or sputtering so far.
Now, is there anything specific I should know BEFORE I try to swap phones and plans on the website? Any info gratefully accepted! Thanks!
You're moving from Paylo to a Beyond Talk plan, right? Be sure you have at least $35 in your account before you switch phones, in order to take care of the first month's service. It will definitely be easier if you do.
I'm not specifically familiar with the Chaser, but most phone swaps with Virgin Mobile can be accomplished either on the website or directly on your new phone. Since you've been checking it out, you've probably seen the Activate app that should be included. That's what I've used for my last several phone swaps, without any trouble.
Oh, as far as getting familiar with the ins and outs of an Android phone - I found the Menu button to be my best friend. It will show you the options for almost any screen or app. Also, it may sound trite, but your local library should be able to get hold of "Learning Android Phones for Dummies" or some similar book. They give a great basic overview. For me, though, hands-on was the way to go. Good luck and enjoy your new phone!

Thank you so much for the response. Yes, I'll have more than $35 in the account before I swap...and I have swapped phones before, but they were always from PayLo to PayLo...not from PayLo to monthly plan. I guess when I'm ready, I'll just go about it like I always did before and hope it all works out.
I'm also a "hands on" person with this stuff. The menu button has been great, but I did have to go online and google a few things...I guess I'm so late to android that they just automatically think EVERYONE knows what to do with one! lol...
Hope it goes smoothly, and thanks so much for the response!
You're welcome - and be sure to post about the outcome! :-)
