the size of some apps

I've noticed that some apps are huge (>6megs) for the little bit it does and some are very small (a few hundred K) for the stuff it does. Is this because of the particular compiler that's being used or is there more to it than that?

i think there's probably as many different reasons are there are apps

It's probably not the APP itself, but rather the support files it requires. If it has a lot of images for example, they can take up quite a bit of space in the APK. If you are really curious, the APK is nothing more than an archive file and you can look at what's in it using PKZIP or 7ZIP etc.
