I've fought my Intercept for two years now, and it's time for a switch. It's been cursed at, rooted, cursed at again, and I've had it.
My job is at a financial institution where they've locked down access to the internet from work computers, so I use my phone extensively during the workday for browsing the web and reading personal email. I don't have a wireless signal available at work, but I generally use less than 200mb of my data plan monthly. I hardly make a dent in voice minutes from month to month. Once or twice a month I might make use of the GPS if I'm driving in unfamiliar territory.
My beefs about the Intercept is its lagginess, and when I go nuts and try to load more apps than it can handle it becomes unstable unless I delete stuff or clear the dang thing completely and start over again. And the battery's good for 3 or 4 hours of data use.
Now the question is what do I upgrade to? Radio Shack has the Optimus Slider on sale for $140 and the Triumph for $150.
I'm grandfathered on the $25 plan, so I'm hesitant to move up to a phone where I'll lose that.
The slider is nice because I've kind of gotten used to a physical keyboard, plus I have pretty big paws, so hitting soft keys on the Intercept screen just isn't practical. That, along with the fact that the Optimus Slider seems like fairly stable hardware makes that phone tempting. On the other hand, I like the larger form factor of the Triumph, but am concerned about reports of crappy battery life and GPS. That said, I'm not afraid to root a phone if that will fix some of the problems.
So, phone geeks, what do you think?
If you can flash a custom ROM, get the Triumph. The screen size is awesome and everything works perfectly if you put the right ROM on it.
I also picked up 3 extra batteries plus a wall charger that charges the batteries on eBay for $12.99. They were from china and took 3 weeks to arrive but they work great and I never run out of juice.
