To my knowledge this "buy in" you guys are speaking about is the $15.5 Billion in commitments to apple over 4 years. I do not see any issue with this commitment. You guys made it sound like the $15.5 billion was on top of any iPhone orders which would definitely have been unreasonable. The only thing Apple gains from this is a guaranteed $15.5B in iPhone sales over 4 years to Sprint even if Sprint can't sell that many iPhones...

I love their products, but HATE their corporate attitude!
I've always used Macs - from Apple II+ (still have it) through today. Ironically, I think the reason I supported Apple so long is the exact same reason I support WIND - they were the underdogs. Never been a fan of *big business*. My god, the bashing I took for a few years - macs suck... there is no software (VERY true for awhile)... slow processors... but how times have changed. Now that they're no longer the underdog, my opinion has changed slightly - I still love the hardware but I now view Apple in the same light as I used to view MS. The silver lining: I started buying APPL stock in 1999. So here I am, anxiously awaiting BB10 LOL.
Lets look at this mathematically. According to this website which uses figures from January 2012 http://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/...ying-carriers/, the iPhone sales averages $660 per phone.
$15.5B / $660 /4 years / 4 quarters = roughly 1.47 million phones per quarter need to be sold
Lets look at Sprints iPhone activations for the last few quarters.
1.8 million in Q4 2011 http://newsroom.sprint.com/article_d...rticle_id=2179
1.5 million in Q1 2012 http://newsroom.sprint.com/article_d...rticle_id=2253
1.5 million in Q2 2012 http://newsroom.sprint.com/article_d...rticle_id=2340
So it seems like if Sprint can keep selling this many iPhones per quarter, the commitment should be a non issue for anyone that keeps bashing it unless iPhone sales drop off dramatically for some reason.
How much money are Sprint making per sale? (this reminds me of being a Wal-mart supplier - at what point does the margin get too low)
can you imagine if wind/Mobi did get the iPhone? the network would collapse from the droves of people coming in for cheap cellular.
"Studies show that 60% of the time, it works every time."
Wind $29/Month UNLIMITED EVERYTHING BTS plan
After reading all ur comments, Wind definitely can’t afford to have iPhone subsidized. The only hope now is T-mobile getting it.
Some glimmer of hope: T-Mobile CEO hinting talk with Apple to bring iPhone.
After all, we can always hope and wish!
The truth shall be revealed in less than a month!!!
It doesn't even matter if T-Mobile gets "iPhone 5" or not. Due to their reframing of PCS spectrum to HSPA and launching LTE on AWS, their network will be compatible with the iPhone whether Apple approves or not. Their compatibility status no longer helps WIND and other HSPA AWS carriers.
All comments are my own opinion and do not reflect the views of my employer or affiliated groups.
I had a encounter with Steve Job's ghost last night during a seance I held with some friends and he told me that his dying wish was for the iPhone to be compatible with Wind.
Consider this thread topic CONFIRMED.
Hmmm,…. doesn’t look too good,…
