HELP!!! just dropped my S3, screen not working anymore...what are my options????

Just dropped this amazing phone...sucks. It fell face first and did not have a case (I just took it off a few days ago to see how it feels without a case)...bad mistake. Anyways...I bought it with my BMO Gold Mastercard at wireless wave. What are my options? Will my credit card company perhaps cover accidental damgae? (i'll call them..it JUST happened). How much do you guys think it will cost for repairs? ANY advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Screen replacement might be under $200.

I believe your credit card warranty will only cover the cost (which you probably got at a discount on a 3 year) so they won't subsidize a new phone.

If there is no noticable physical damage, I'd take it back to the store and tell them it just crapped out. Bell corporate stores are not too bad. I had a similar problem with dropping a Blackberry. No noticable physical damage but I knew it didn't work because I dropped it. But they still replaced it under warranty.
But on the plus side, I knocked over the SunSphere.

    Muh Plan:
    300 min
    U/L E&W at 6PM
    U/L Picture/Video/Text Messaging
CDN LD @ $0.10 per min
USA LD @ $0.20 per min
    6 GB Data
    U/L Bell to Bell Local
    $55/month with no SAF/911

That would be lying. Are you recommending the client outright lie? We certainly hold the carriers to their word when they "lie" (CCTS et al.), would we not expect the same from an end-user?

Also, when the Samsung repair centre receives it, they will open the phone and they will figure out why it isn't working...

That is exactly what I'm saying.

I had a Blackerry, I dropped it, the memory card reader stopped working. I took it into a Bell corporate store, told them the memory card reader wasn't working, they sent it off, and replaced it under warranty.

First question should be "how much did you pay for it?" If you bought it outright on your Gold MasterCard, you may be in luck if they DO cover accidental damage. If you bought it subsidized, they might only reimburse you the $159 (or whatever) you paid for it. Or, they might do nothing if it is physical damage... call them, DO NOT LIE, tell them what happened, and that it was accidental. See what they say. You don't need to go into any great detail... see what they suggest. Your other option is to buy another phone outright...

Good luck, man.... I was in your shoes a year ago. Not a fun place to be.

Although I do not condone this form of deception, your SD card slot not working after a fall is very different than your screen not working after a fall. The former is something that could easily interpreted as a manufacturing defect while the latter is obviously something that is caused by the user. When your screen doesn't work after a fall, the LCD panel underneath is usually fractured and is very obvious and any technician would discover it.

Not sure if you BMO card has 90 day anything coverage like my mastercard does, but yeah when you get a subsidized phone using that coverage can be a pain. I did it one time like 8 years ago after dropping my new phone in a cup of water on my desk, but I can't recall if I managed to get a new device fully covered or if I had to pay the difference. I think the carrier/mastercard figured things out and I didn't have to pay anything, but don't quote me on that.

Just a quick update...My credit card company does cover accidental damage for up to 90 days!!! Since I bought it for $159 on a 3 year plan, they will only cover that much, and the repairs will be $260 plus tax. I'm happy that I only have to pay $132 out of pocket instead of $291. BMO said that if i drop a phone, its covered, but if i were negligent and left it outside and it got rained on, then it wouldn't be covered. Wow...very happy i looked into this.
