AUDIO issues with samsung galaxy proclaim

my issue with the Samgung Galaxy Proclaim, is my callers don't hear me after 4 seconds on the phone, the calls don't drop, I hear them they don't hear me responding and they hang up because they can't hear me responding, and I'm responding but again they can't hear me, so they hang up and i call back sometimes it work, sometimes it don't.

here's my latest update with straight talk and the samsung galaxy proclaim. The only reason I keep getting the same phone,, it is the only one offered by ST for my area that provides signal, there's other kinds of phones available, but not "android" that provides signal, I'm only interested in the Androids phone, that's why I have switched out so many times, ST thinks it a defective one of a kind issue with that particular phone, maybe I just have a bad phone, but to have the same issue on each phone, shows that there's something wrong.
    *************************************
Straight Talk has contacted me BECAUSE of this forum, and here is my reply to them.......thank you for responding Sara, I contacted Straight talk again last week about this phone issue, the number has Risen to 6 Straight talk Samsung Galaxy Proclaim that I have switch out. The representative troubleshooted the issue with me and realize the phone was not responding properly. He offered to send me another samsung galaxy phone. the problem I had with that was the process of sending my phone back and waiting for straight talk to send me another phone, after 6 times of going without a phone during the waiting period I told straight talk that I refuse to send my phone first because of the inconvenience that I have to lose until I receive a phone back, I am the one losing my calls, I am the one without a phone during the waiting period, I do not want to be without a phone, I've done this 6 times already and this particular issue with the phone has not been resolved, if they want to send me a phone FIRST SO THAT I AM NOT WITHOUT A PHONE, and I will send my phone back in the same box BACK TO YOU.
I have been experiencing this problem only since i have brought the new samsung galaxy proclaim (it's the only android phone that straight talk has that works in my area) there are others to choose from but the other android won't work in my area. I have lost numerous calls yesterday, they can't hear me speak, and i can hear them.
I have asked the representative to contact samsung to report this issue, there's more to this issue than trouble shooting from the scripts that you read on the screen, since my calls do not drop every single time i call, it does it randomly but frequently, the maker of the phone needs to know this, I plan to take this issue all the way to the top with or without your help, I have been patient I have switched out plenty of phones, and I don't feel like I have been heard. I had this same problem while speaking to straight talk myself, and I had to switch out and find me another phone just to finish the conversation and trouble shoot the phone. so again, my request is if you will switch out my phone, please send me another phone first, and I will gladly send back this phone to you, after six times, I am not trying to keep a phone that does not work, but I am concerned that I will be without a phone until you send me back a phone. I like being a st talk customer, that's why I have not gone on to another carrier, Im hoping that this SAMSUNG can resolve this issue, apparently they may not be aware of it because ST has not informed them.

i hope she does not read that with her face in her hands, then yawns. thats gotta be painful. how about the new zip?

i have worked with computers for many years and troubleshooting was the larger part of my life. so with that said the phones not the problem. you gotta at least check the towers. i know very little about that area. but enough to know that traveling 20 miles south/east and back 40 miles in the opposite direction or until you have covered several towers. allow enough time on those towers to reproduce those errors.

ST does not own the towers. eliminate the towers as the source would seem like an important step. then ST could find an engineer to fix the issue. although it would not just select you.

The LG Optimus Zip is an Android powered phone that uses Verizon towers just like the Samsung Galaxy Proclaim. You may want to give it a try.

shortysmiley, have you had other Straight Talk phones? If so, which phones have you had?

The Zip uses Sprint towers, not Verizon.

I have the exact same problem with the clicking and caller unable to hear me. I haven't been able to pinpoint what happens and why it is so random. Seems like some sort if interference. Please post if you come up with a resolution. Thanks.

I just bought my Samsung Proclaim a couple months ago and I think I am having the same as you Marvl. I get loud clicks, even squawks sometimes in my ear while I am talking on my phone. The person on the other end says they can barely hear me. Did you ever figure out what causes this?

Yes, my problem was resolved completely by accident ... I updated my roaming capabilities (*22891) while in the town I originally activated my phone versus where I now live and haven't had a single problem in several months. For me it was a simple fix for a seriously irritating problem.

Thank you for your reply Marvl. I am a little on the technically challenged side when it comes to smartphones. This is my first one. So, when you say you "updated your roaming capabilities (#22891)", how does one go about doing that? I would certainly give it a shot to see if it fixes my audio problem as well. Thanks!

I've been having the same problem with this phone ever since I got it. It's so random, sometimes I can talk for over an hour and it's perfect, other times (from the same location) it will mess up after a few minutes, 30 minutes, or immediately. What Mr. Marvl meant by "updating your roaming capabilities" is to enter *22891 (note that it is a star or Astrix, not a pound symbol) into the dialer and press send. This will take you through the process of updating your phone to the latest Preferred Roaming List (PRL), that is what I've read anyways. I tried it just now and will report back to let everyone else know if this fixes the horrible sound issue a lot of people are having with these phones.

Ok, thanks BWATS, for the instructions. I turned my phone off and back on again about a week ago, and it seems to have resolved my problem. (so far anyway) It seems strange that a simple fix like that could be all it takes, but...we shall see.

Yeah, I tried turning the phone off and it seems to resolve the issue temporarily, but I've found it always comes back eventually, sometimes it happens right after I reboot the phone so who knows. I'm hoping this roaming upgrade solves the issue, another thing that just happened tonight was I got prompted for a system upgrade from Samsung I guess. I went a head and did this so I'm hoping a combination of both or one or the other will fix this issue, other wise this is going to be one sorry smart phone...lol Good luck and keep us posted!
