Will, I have noticed that you are with Mobilicity, but you have very little positive things to say about your experience, if any at all. Why wouldn't you switch to a different provider, and stop stressing yourself? Even Xtachx has had enough.

The Big three have been around ages longer, hence more towers. Mobi and Wind are new to the market.

There is always prepaid Koodo soon to be out. More money, but you get the Telus network.

Myself, I am happy thus far. Although I do wish for signal and coverage, I only pay half the amount.

If I'm not happy then I would go to Koodo.

The idea of offering value is to offer performance above expectation, not try to drive down customer expectation on the basis of how little the service costs. As you said already and I fully agree, the value of the service approaches zilch when there is no signal. So, we are to calibrate ourselves that we bought into an outdoor service. Now, how does that make us "whiniest bargain basement penny pinchers?

Stewart Lyons is wrong. There is a difference between a "value provider" and "poor network". A value provider is one who has very good signal in the area they cover, but the coverage area is small and cities only. Not both.

    From Stewart's Twitter:

"It's rate limited to that speed because it's $10 for unlimited service " when techfox mentioned being only able to get 2Mb down.

Looks like the 21Mb upgrade will not bring faster (> 2Mb down) to current customers unless they wish to buy a higher tier data speeds add-on.
I feel that approach will bite Mobi in the ***. Considering how volatile data speeds are, especially Mobilicity's, I wouldn't even think about buying a higher tier unless I was getting the 2Mb down max consistently for a large portion of my day.

At the end of the day I'm happy I made the move to Wind when I did, Mobilicity is moving in an unfavourable direction for me.

It sure will bite them. If enough people do get the upgraded data tier & don't get the speed they will be angry. If they do see a dramatic increase in speed they will be happy, but people on the regular tier will be angry. Subtract the unlimited data from Mobi plans & they aren't really compelling. Who is Mobi targeting as a customer? If I'm a casual user or use the phone for emergencies I would go with prepaid with Rogers. If I make a lot of calls & txt again the Big 3 have compelling offers IMO. I wouldn't think of giving a Mobi phone to family members for emergency use, because it's unreliable.

That about sums it up for me as well.

I've given myself until the end of the year. If I don't feel the services have changed and stabilized, I'm back to the dark side.

I'm starting to agree with you guys. Wind's objective is to be a world-class national carrier, on par with the Big 3. Mobi's philosophy seems to be "you get what you pay for", which is far far far more disturbing.

I have no problem putting up with Mobi's/Wind's weak network because I understand that they are growing. It'll take time to build a decent network. And I'll live with that. But I don't like the fact that they have no aspirations.

Had I known that this was their plan overall, I can assure you that I would never have joined Mobi.

EDIT: I think Mobi's attitude is quite hypocritical. Basically what they are saying is that the Big 3 weren't really ripping you off. It's just that they were offering only a single tier of service, and our service is serving an under-serviced market.

Im happy with 2-3Mbps down as long as its un throttled and consistent. If i want faster im willing to pay a little more.

Ive tested Wind and the data speeds were nice up to 6 gb. However due to the fair use clause, data was pretty un useable after that. Coupled with no reception in my house, im staying with Mobi for now.

By January if nothing changes for the better, i may have to sell my soul back to the big 3
