If I was making almost $19 million (net pay?) then I wouldn't be sweatin' about a $420 refund.

$420 tax refund![]()
The price of a smartphone is $650. That's not gonna persist.
Dennis Woodside, CEO of Motorolahttp://www.androidauthority.com/moto...rategy-220042/Rolfe Winkler of the Wall Street Journal also thinks that these fighting words from Woodside should have “executives at Samsung shaking in their boots.” He also thinks that “folks at Apple should also be sweating.”
If I was making almost $19 million (net pay?) then I wouldn't be sweatin' about a $420 refund.
wow... a $19 mil dollar salary and he still gets a tax refund.
Of course we shouldn't tax the rich because they create jobs like, I'm sure, Mr. Stephenson did! But what do I know... I'm just a dirty liberal![]()
Just because he received a refund doesn't mean he didn't pay taxes.
I get around $750 refund every year. What does that mean?
This confusion can easily be avoided if you pronounce the word intended aloud. If it has a voiced Z sound, then it’s “lose.” If it has a hissy S sound, then it’s “loose.” Here are examples of correct usage: “He tends to lose his keys.” “She lets her dog run loose.”
Loose
not rigidly fastened or securely attached
Lose
to miss from one's possession or from a customary or supposed place
Also, just because a word has an "s" at the end, doesn't mean it needs an apostrophe.
You pay to much in, try more deductions. What he got back is simply an over-payment his accountant did to protect him. Actually, it's an impressive job the accountant did, somebody do the math and you'll see how good his estimation was.
But it did create drama didn't it, and that's what sells!
I'm not saying he didn't pay taxes. But I don't doubt it there was a lot of play involved unless he had lots of deductions. How much can you actually deduct from $19 mil???

Ya'll got it all wrong.
Telecoms group AT&T paid CEO Randall Stephenson $18.7 million, but was entitled to a $420 million tax refund thanks to billions in tax savings from recent rules accelerating depreciation of assets.
The company got the refund, due to the ability to take some depreciation on new technology.
the refund was $420M not $420, to the company, not Randall. I'm sure he paid his fair share of taxes.
This thread has so little information in it, it means nothing about anything.
I usually support government regulation, but It is unfortunate that the government over-regulated and killed the AT&T/ T-Mobile Merger
The best explanation of the pricing nutiness in the industry.
Why Sprint and T-Mo will always suck.
The only way to end the pricing insanity is to eliminate contracts and subsidies.
I want Wifi calling on AT&T.
If you text while driving, you're an idiot. End of story.
Yep, and I have some ocean front property in Afghanistan to sellI saw an article that the top 1% pay much less than their fair share, and some even pay no taxes, that's called "business" to them, to most of us it's called cheating.
Edit-These elite are also hoarding record amounts of money, money that should be going to create jobs and help the economy, crooks.

Blame CA for that.
The original post made it look like this was a refund from an individual tax return (1040) when it was really from a corporate tax return. Thank groundhog5886 for actually paying attention in business math 101.
A refund means your employer withheld more they needed to each pay period.
Of course, he paid...unless didn't turn in a W-4.
This sounds a bit harsh to me. Rich people certainly cheat on taxes. So do poor people. One is no better than the other and the impact of each is indeterminate because there are hundreds of thousands of poor people for every Randall. When is the last time you bought a product out of state (on one of your train rides) and subsequently sent a check to Sacramento to comply with the Ca sales and use tax.
No argument here that the system needs to be fixed to assure everyone pays taxes and nobody gets to deduct themselves to zero, but that means everybody. I am not sure what fair is, but that is yet another digression.
Poor people don't pay Federal taxes, they are taken out but come back in the form of a refund check.
