I need a little bit of long distance minutes. The telus $15 plan is way too much, so I was wondering if anyone has this addon or even heard about it. There is a $3 addon for North America calling (30 minutes). After discussing with computergeek, I think I am too new for telus to offer any decent LD plans, but this will suit my needs perfectly.
The problem is that, the telus web site is highly inconsistant and this addon doesnt appear on every page. So is this addon valid? Does anyone have it?

Added it via self serve. Does telus have a system to see LD usage / minutes left?

Not on the website. Only thing I can't speak to is the app (because I can't get signed into it), but I doubt it. It's unfortunate.Originally Posted by xtachx
The website is a bit of a mess. It shows that I have 60 minutes of usage allowed / month?! (I have 200). Sometimes that "offer" pops up with "You are eligible for a device upgrade" where it shows me 3 year prices. However, if I click another link int he same page, it shows me JUST the outright prices. :-(
I guess when I do roam, I wont be able to see my unbilled usage? Do they provide notifications for voice roaming?

Also the website doesn't show you any bonus minutes (if applicable).
And I can't recall if there are notifications for voice roaming. They definitely send you texts for data, but I can't ever recall getting one for voice. I could be wrong though.
No voice notification text beyond the initial welcome message when you first connect.
Most phones have a decent call history feature so you can do your own estimates. It's always been easier to manually keep track of your own voice minutes just by paying attention to your usage and checking the timers and history in the phone than trying to manually figure out data usage (hard to know exactly the data usage of specific apps)

We think everyone should be able to afford a wireless phone. That's why we were the first wireless company in North America to offer pay-by-the-second airtime, and why we don't charge an activation fee. NO scary contract to sign. Immediate national coverage. And a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. Yes, it's finally time to get a wireless phone.

As said by Krzr101, after initital signup, your minutes are prorated so that you get a weighted number of minutes for the days remaining before you billing cycle starts. This means that you activated about 9 days before the Telus assigned monthly billing date and that your monthly plan fees for your first bill wil be about 30% higher than normal as it includes charges for more than one month.
the way i see it, the 30 minutes is good for answering your phone when you're not in your home zone. someone mentioned roaming at some point and when roaming outside of canada, these 30 minutes won't give you "free" roaming for 30 minutes.
for sure you can call canada and US wide from anywhere canada... and receive calls anywhere in canada for up to 30 minutes.
i have this added for free by L&R.
add $20 and nationwide20 will make your all your minutes nationwide (daytime minutes, unlimited evenings and weekends, unlimited incoming, whatever you have on your plan).
i use that when i go out of my home zone for extended period and anticipate using the phone a lot, esp for work say when i am out of home zone.
