    Evo v4g/ 3d? and service?

Well i hear the evo v 4g is identical as the evo 3d, if this is so it must be a pretty decent speeded phone for 280$ (depends where you get it, radioshack has for 280 prob going to get it there if i do cause they set everything up for you fix any problems you might have and they are very close). Also if thats true then it has a dual core 1.2ghz processor correct? that means it should last me a couple years right?

Also my other question is virgin is supposed to have the same coverage as sprint arent they? but how come their coverage maps are completely different when they used to be identical.

The difference in coverage maps is due to Sprint including roaming on Verizon's network. Sprint's real coverage is shown on Virgin Mobile or Boost's maps.

I do own that same phone. While it certainly is an excellent phone, just realize that there has been an issue with the signal bars jumping around. You'll see it referred to a fluctuating signal strength on the forums. This apparently is a network issue on VM side of things. I returned my first one due to that problem. The one I currently have still does it somewhat, but nowhere near as often. I ended up installing "Signal Notification" from Google Play and just ignore the bars.

The issues don't happen to everyone.
So it could be location or a specific hardware issue.
I got my EVO at BestBuy on the first day it was available and have had none of the issues a few folks are reporting.

The EVO 3D is still among the best phones you can still buy for under $300 and without a contract. After my experience, if I was still on contract and up for renewal, I'd seriously consider the EVO 3D despite newer phones.

I would certainly give it a try. Who knows, maybe you'll get lucky and if not, then you can always do what a friend of mine did and return the EVO and buy the HTC One V, which is also a very decent phone, so you have options.

Take a good look at the coverage maps. If most of your time will be spent in Sprints coverage area with decent signal levels, then I'd say go for it. But if you do any traveling, you'll probably be in and out of Sprint's area. Even major highway's tend to have a few gaps. The interstate's seem to be well covered.

It can be a hard decision. If you stick with VM then you have an excellent data plan, if you want better coverage then Straight Talk might be better using an AT&T BYOD or the new Samsung Proclaim which is on Verizon's network. But you have to deal with ST's very vague "unlimited" plan and their completely incompetent customer service reps. If you stay away from any form of streaming then you'd probably be OK.
