Is there a specific order to get data working?

I did this with my GNote and a Lumia 900 so I don't know why this doesn't work.

On Thurs last week, I put a ST SIM into my son's new SGS3. On Fri, voice and text are working great but no internet and no MMS.

I updated APN and even changed the MMS proxy per another thread. No dice.

Called ST on Sat. They tell me I need to unlock the phone, although I thought I read on here it wasn't necessary.

So, I buy an unlock code (like I did for my Note) and go through the steps...no dice.

I ensured the IMEI # was correct and after a dozen tries, no data. It's not frozen either.

I've also tried putting the old AT&T SIM back in the phone but it says no connection. I get the same results when I put the ST SIM back in the phone.

From all I've described, what have I missed? I had no trouble with my Note and the Lumia 900. Appreciate any help.

    Thanks.

Search for a thread about problems with the S3. I remember reading it a few weeks back, although I seem to remember it may have been more related to the international version of the S3. Not positive about that. I would link it for you, but I haven't figured out how to do that using the HOFO app rather than an Internet interface. Not sure how to get the link to the thread to post it when there aren't addresses at the top.

What does your APN Type field have?

Some newer phones (like the Galaxy Nexus, also made by Samsung) do not have that filled in at all, and you have to manually enter it. This is not covered in the Straight Talk APN instructions.

Your creed may be interesting, but your deeds are much more convincing.

It actually had something else in the APN type (Internet + MMS). I don't have the phone with me anymore but will have it checked again to see if it works. Thank you for showing these screens.

The internet+mms is correct. Most Samsung phones, even more so from at&t have apn type option dropdown list with the preloaded apn types.

(Samsung) Galaxy Nexus do NOT, which is one of the newer phones Samsung manufactures -- with ICS and now Jelly Bean.

The APN field says "Not Set" and there is no drop down menu -- only a plain text field. You have to enter the info manually. I own two of these, so I know.

You also have to do this for the Google Nexus One:

Having said that, if you have "internet + mms", that should work.

I had manually input internet + mms so I changed to the suggestion above and it worked.

My GNote had the radio button selection options but the SGS3 did not. On my Note, that option works but not on the SGS3.

The phone is for my son in college and now both of us are happy it is working. Thanks to all that contributed.

    .
By the suggestion above, you mean "default, supl, mms"? (from my screenshot)

So, for the SG3, in the "APN Type: default, supl, mms" works while "internet + mms" does not.

Yes, that is correct. I can't say if it works for others but on my son's, that was the case.
