I've been with Wind for the last 10 months or so, left Fido after 7 years.
The voice service isnt as bad as it was said, but its not great. My biggest peeve is once I press the dial button I often have to wait a while for it to connect, and sometimes it just fails altogether so I have to try again a minute later. Doesnt sound like a big deal but its a pain.
Browsing is a pain. I dont get this - I can watch youtube videos w/o too much trouble but webpage browsing is painstakingly slow.
How is Mobilicity in terms of voice and data, compared w/ Wind?

Also, although Wind generally does have faster data, it depends on your location. Mobi is faster where I am, or else I might have switched to Wind by now. See if you can borrow a friend's Mobi SIM for a few hours, or activate an account without porting over, and see how it works for you, before porting.

Both services are not good, but which is best depend on your locale. Try Mobilicity and if it works for you then switch. I went from Mobilicity to wind and back. Obviously I am not pleased with Mobilicity but wind was far worse for me.

To be blunt, they both suck. YMMV. Coverage mappers are your friend.

should I be w/ Wind if im near SFU area?
It depends up on your usage area. We have service from both the providers and I use the Mobi's, I get excellent signal at home, at work and all along the way (all within Toronto), data network is congested and slow at peak hours, voice quality is much better than Wind and of late I get dropped calls during peak hours.
Wind's voice quality is not as good for us, too many dropped calls, problems dialing outgoing calls and calls going to VM directly in spite of excellent signal strength and terrible cust service, I still keep the service just for their better coverage area and being on a grandfathered plan hoping they will improve in future.
If you have good signal strength with Wind stay with them for their wider coverage, meanwhile if you want to try Mobi just get a SIM activated for a month and forward your calls to Mobi to try for yourself, if it works for you then you can port the number.

ROGERS PAYG
I just jumped back on Mobilicity to pick up the Gnex for $300.
I had to prepay for the monthly service for 3 months. The network speeds are horrible at work and at my condo (STC), but at my home it's OK (2Mbps consistently). I'll just have to use WiFi when at work or at the condo.
I had Wind for my wife. Their coverage in the GTA was horrible. When she got coverage, the speeds were OK. Unfortunately it was very difficult to get reception in the Scarborough area (Warden / Finch; Warden / Eglinton. It's not the phone - when I stuck a Mobilicity SIM in the same phone, reception was fine - speeds were horrible).
I had to switch her over to Telus.
I'll probably switch to Fido when my 3 months are over. Unless of course the "upgrades" are completed and the data speeds make my phone usable.
lol what kinda of speed you need to surf the internet?
When you're used to your e-mails loading as soon as you open the message, it gets incredibly frustrating waiting 5-10 seconds for that same email to open on the Mobilicity network.
I wouldn't date trying to actually surf the internet on the Mobilicity network with it's sub 1Mbps speeds. I'd pull out whatever hair I have left.
