    Unhappy AT&T and insurance question.

Hello my name is Jenni, I'm new to these forums and I have a question which I hope someone could answer, like 10 days ago I bought a SG3 from best buy and opened a new account with att, today my phone was stolen during my sisters baby shower, I was planning on returning the device to best buy because I realized I wouldn't be able to pay $100 a month for phone service, now since my phone was stolen I asked best buy if they would accept a replacement device to be able to cancel my contract since I'm still under the 30 days probation... They said yes. So my question would be if I would get in trouble with asurion or att for filing an insurance claim on my first month, paying the $200 deductible that would be my only way out of this... Or buying another phone full price for $700 dollars, please if anyone knows and can tell me or has been thru something similar. Thanks for reading.

    CA,

Now you are posting SPAM links ?? How the mighty have fallen.
If I'm annoyed and you're annoyed, does that make us a paranoid ??

Whats wrong with you $499 for an ulocked GS3 is better than the $700 the OP is looking at.

Instead of posting dribble, why not offer him/her your sage advice, or at least both opinions. Clearly letting good judgments fly out the window in favor of snarky remarks.

SInce the Original Poster is contemplating cancelling the contract within the thirty day remorse period, what is the point in purchasing a new phone just to give to Best Buy? The deductible through an insurance claim would be the less expensive option. The only sticking point is whether she can receive the replacement phone in time. She has about twenty days.

Twenty days to cancel, but if the claim is in motion the OP might be in luck. Just send it back when it comes. The only reason I mentioned it is because the move could be a just in case thing. I wouldn't recommend it as a first line move though.

    Or not, just guessing!

Even if the Original Poster decides to keep the service, $200 is better than $499. One could even press a GoPhone into service to avoid paying for a plan you cannot use because you have no telephone.

Most forums would have deleted your post as SPAM. I call 'em like I see 'em.

Still no advice for the OP, just petty remarks!

Hi guys, thank you for the answers they help, I could claim insurance and pay the deductible which is $200, get another phone and return it to best buy but I fear that AT&T might charge me for the claim or something because I'm still in first month of service and I haven't paid any bills yet, If they didn't charge me anything just the deductible it would be cool since you claim insurance and get a phone in like 2 or 3 days. Carriers are shady and I'm pretty sure they wouldn't accept an insurance claim on the first month then cancel the contract .... They are greedy .

Sorry, it's not the carrier being greedy as you described it.

I seriously doubt that Best Buy will simply accept a replacement phone and cancel your contract without penalty. Best Buy has the IMEI of your original phone and it won't match your new phone's IMEI. Did you get that promise in writing? I don't think you will be able to file an insurance claim and then cancel your contract anyhow.

Just offering my opinion. I wish you the best of luck though. Let us know.

Thanks for your responde Veriztd , my Ex-boyfriend went to bestbuy with me and he talked to the manager and explained the situation and got a written notice that they would replace it without a problem, best buy wouldnt be a problem but AT&T would, I curse the thief that stole my phone!

Yes you can file a claim and not get in trouble, they charge you for insurance your first month so you can make a claim your first one. I made a claim two days later on my iPhone.

P.S. make sure it is lost/stolen because I known people who have tried this route just to get a phone cheaper (200/insurance +199/ 2 year contract price) so they do look at where the phone is being used at a lot closer in these situations..... Just a heads up, if you have any questions just PM me.
