Ok thinking about getting the iphone 5 when it comes out next month and re-selling it. I have a up grade due on my daughters line and I am thinking about using it and then putting her back onto a dumbphone immediatley. So
if the iphone 5 is $200, subsidized, I will have to give $230 for it all together with the up grade fee. Now just how much would I be able to get off it on craiglist? I would want at least a $200 profit. Does that sound doable? Or could I get more?![]()

I'll give you $50
$50 and 1/2 a beer
You might want to ask over on Macrumors. I would guess you could get retail unsubidized MSRP or up to $50-100 over that right after it's released. I remember when some people were getting $750-900 for iPhone 4's on eBay right at release but I'm not sure if you can still do that well today. eBay also poses its own risks and you really need to list it before the actual release date of the phone to get top dollar.
If I do it, it will be locally only. I have done this once before local, made $200 and everything went great. But another question, won't it be called the Iphone 5? What is the deal with the number 6?
Doubt you will have any problem getting $430 out of it, if that's what you want for it. I'd pay ya that much. Current 4S phones sell for $400+ still.

$400 is not high enough.
I did the same with an iphone 4s, and sold it for $50 less than Verizon's full price (around $550) (Not during release week.) I sold on Craigslist, cash only, and insisted they do the purchase at the Verizon store, to prove it worked on their account. You can make good money...if you don't need the upgrade. Release week you might be able to sell it for full price...the buyer is still saving sales tax. Ask Verizon or Bestbuy not to take the wrappers off - they can activate it just fine with plastic on. Say it is going to be a gift.

Depending on your daughters plan. Wouldn't you still be stuck paying for a data plan enough she'd be on a dumbphone?
