I'm not sure what you mean by lose your flash. A DX2 works on PPC with no modifications. It is possible that you might need to do *22890 again after you root, but that should be it.

I rooted my Incredible 2 a while back (and also installed a custom ROM, CM 7.2) and it had no effect on the phone's ability to use Page Plus.
Before you upgrade to 2.3.5 you might want to see if 2.3.5 would make you unable to root. On my phone, if I were to upgrade beyond 2.3.3 with my phone in S-ON, I would be unable to root and unable to downgrade to a rootable version, in addition to being unable to get OTA updates on Page Plus. I don't know if the versions of Android that are rootable depend on the phone or not, but it's something you should look into. Look for guides on how to root your specific phone and see what they say.
well the update downloaded by itself and i cought it before it installed and will give me a hour to postpone it, i don't know if i should just update it or keep telling it to postpone it every hour that would get annoying. the root part is not too important to me since i only am allowed to 2gb of data a month i was going to root and use wifi tether but thats not very important to me since of my data limit. now im just worried about the update.
But if you root you could turn the update off and do a lot of other useful things.
For the record, I've rooted, flashed custom roms (CM7, CM9, AOKP) and even sbf'd without effecting Page Plus. I just had to use *228 after the sbf to reactivate. It took 20 seconds it didn't even effect my 55 plan. So root away friend!

this would be the last update for this phone right now as its not getting ics(officialy) this is just going from 2.3.4 to 2.3.5, if i do the update and it dont ask again im happy with that, in the future i might put a custom rom on it once i learn how to do that, after i learn how to root my Droid X2
If you do the 235 update very hard to root, root before the update and all will be well, i have my dx2 rooted with the 234 software and had to roll it back to the 234 to root as i lost root with the 235 update.
DO NOT update to 2.3.5 If you do want to root sometime in the future, you'll just have to sbf back to 2.3.4 to root.
Turn on USB debugging.
Root with super one click. (Google it).
Get root explorer.
Turn off blurupdater.apk by renaming to blurupdater.apk.bak
Rename blurupdater.odex to blurupdater.odex.bak restart and you wont be forced to update any more.
Just checkout droidxforums. They've got all the info you need. Don't be scared, its all actually very easy. Just read read read and then read some more. Just to make sure you understand the process.
